I found this clause and thought it was interesting. I assume the state-to-state transfer restrictions is a Federal law (FFL stuff)? Otherwise it seems like it would be legal in AL.

Note that it pertains only to "rifles and shotguns". Handgun sales to a non-resident are a no-no.:faint:

Yep, elrod is right. The no state-to-state thing applies only to handguns. I don't think you can legally buy a long gun out of state unless it adjoins AL - according to AL law. The ATF makes no distinctions. I know FFL's can only sell to adjoining state residents. Really stupid!

I bought my AR in GA and walked out of the store with it.

I can't believe I did not know this! So I can buy a long gun in say Columbus, GA and not have to do the FFL transfer? NICE!

Yes, you still have to do the FFL transfer. Hand-to-hand sales are only legal for same state residents.

You still have to do a FFL transfar, but with a long gun living in Al. you can buy in Ga. and walk out of the store with the gun in your hand.

Is it a federal law that you can not buy a hand gun in a state other than where you have legal residence? Or state law?

  9. You can buy C&R pistols out of state with a C&R license.
