Anyone here stationed at Incirlik AB Turkey?
No, but a bunch of people I work with just were.
Have a good friend that was stationed at "the lick" a few years ago.
Yup, I did 15 months there, from 12/29/75 to 3/77. Interesting place, but not my ideal assignment, in those days I was wanting the PI, Thailand, Korea, but nooooooooo, I get Turkey. Oh well, it was a quiet, outta the way place back then, I've been told I wouldn't even recognize the place now. I was a SP K-9 handler there. Take care...
I'm currently stationed here/there, what do you wanna know.
My dad (and family) were there from 1973 - 1975. I had a blast! It was by far the best two years of my life. As another poster stated, I'm sure everything I remember is long gone too. Such as the Palms cafeteria, mediterranean steakhouse. Is the bowling alley which by the way had the best hot dogs on base still located by the BX?
I am headed there in August for a short time with the AF Reserve. I am looking foward to it! It will be my first TDY to Turkey.
Go to: www.incirlik.af.mil and take a look at the "lik."
I was stationed there from 1986 to 1988. Great AB! Wonderful, hospitable people. Enjoy the food and the culture. Get over to Snake Castle, Black Castle and Castle by the Sea. Fantastic landmarks.
Deputy Dave's words are good. I was deputy JAG at the lick from 76-77, and later deployed as legal adviser during OPC. For any of you who want to see what the Lick was like many years ago go here: merhabaturkey.com. First thing is Turkish national anthom. Next thing puts you up to stories and and experiences from all over Turkey.
