Thanks for the info. What time does "Reporter's Notebook" air? Sorry, I go to bed around 9 p.m. so I have no idea about late night shows.

My gosh the feature about guns on GMA7 sucks! Bigtime!

I mean they only featured the soldiers and officers of the AFP
selling their government issued firearms, EVERYBODY KNOWS THAT!

high quality brand name pistols etc.........

    exotic guns, kasi................. hehehehehe!

I think "sa hirap ng buhay" is the reason why these soldiers are selling their high powered rifles in public. we cant blame them. If they're salary can barely feed five children, they have no other alternative but to sell their armalites, 1911's and ammos. right?
kesa naman magnakaw sila or mangholdap ng bangko. but the thing is, they dont own these guns, these were merely issued to them. so technically, they're stealing na rin in a way..from the government but if this government is ginugutom din sila..eh, for me, we cant blame the AFP soldiers if they're selling their weapons.

    I'll tell you a story...

This is for real, when i was working as a physician in a military hospital (cant disclose where).. an evac was sent in our E.R. i saw this army soldier suffering a gunshot wound in his right thigh..from the looks of it, mukhang fractured pa yung femur bone. I was about to cut his pants to expose the wound, this soldier said.." doc, parang awa nyo na po, wag nyo na po gupitin pantalon ko.nag-iisa lang po to."
It was really disheartening. nakakaawa..there he was, bleeding from battle just to protect the interests of the government and yet, even if he's in critical condition, he was still thinkin about his one and only pants..wala syang pambili ng ibang army uniform kase, not enough yung pera nya most likely and he's probably also thinkin about his children. kawawa talaga.
so, if they're selling their issued firearms..i dont blame them.

    Yup nakaka-awa nga sila.

Share din ako story, my best friend's friend is the son of a
high ranking military officer. One time na invite nila ako for
a practice firing ng high powers and other high priced gun sa
    day.

They don't call it selling, they prefer "INVESTMENT".;)
I talked with an old horse before, he was issued a bazooka or something but he "lost" it. The gov't deducted it from his salary. And one time they were in a middle of firefight with insurgents, his Sarge told him to use his grenade but he didn't. He doesn't want to waste his investment.

Let us all remember that AFP personnel are all Volunteers and all swore to an Oath. Nakaka awa man sila pero ginusto nila ang buhay na yun, walang namimilit, don't get me wrong guys my father and his father served in the Marines my mother was selling all kinds of things from RTW to repacked beans or peanuts even accepting dress repair from neighbors in BNS just to make ends meet, being miserable is not an excuse to steal. And let us not forget that not All of our soldiers are crooks.

It's a vicious cycle. If these people and even other small time scalawags will make "it's a hard life out there" excuse, then we will see no end to it. Naah. Back to shooting.:)

on the other side naman i know a col. na bumili ng colt 45 sa NPA during the time na he was assigned in southern luzon.

Pati sweldo daw pinamatagalan kong minsan. Palaging chibug, dress uniform at paporma walang kulang.
