If you could own one 1911 under $1,000 what would it be?

I'm looking at the Sig Scorpion, Colt XSE, Ruger SR1911 and possibly a Springfield.

I know it's a general question but just looking to hear peoples opinions..

    I appreciate your input

The Springfield Range Officer seems like a nice choice.

No doubt it would be a pony. Colt. For under a grand it don't get any better.

Plain jane Government Model. Not even the XSE. Nothing wrong with the XSE but I really hate the front serrations and ambidextrous thumb safety. Plus the beavertail/ducktail grip safety does nothing for me.

For around $825 plus tax, you can have this beauty - elegance in simplicity.

You can't go wrong with an $800-$1,000 Colt or Springfield. That said, I would buy an STI Trojan. It is a lot of gun for the money. I view STI the same way I looked at Kimber during their first several years. They offer a lot of gun for the money.

PlasticGuy beat me to it. For right at 1K it would be an STI Trojan for full sized 1911.

I spent my cash on Springfield RO. I spent countless hours researching which 1911 to get with a budget under 1k. I couldn't be happier with my RAnge Officer.

Springfield Armory Range Officer w/extra fixed sight option. Kimber Custom II(need to do more research though, some love Kimber some totally hate em'. but they look decent enough) or the Colt that fnfalman posted looks nice.

Personally, I would go Colt if I went for one under 1k. They are also actually a great base gun to work with, if you want to do more custom work to them.
