    Any Caliber! What Caliber?

Any Manufacturer, Must be Production, NOT A CUSTOM SMITH!:crying:

For Carry or Range Use, not a Safe Queen!

Money to spend is limited to $3,000.00 on everything including Grips, and up Grade from Manufacturer.

$3000 is an awful lot for a "production" gun. If we are saying that guns from companies like Wilson, Nighthawk, Baer, etc. are considered semi-custom, then it would either be a TRP if I went 1911 or an XD45 if I went plastic. Although, if one gun is all, then a G19 makes alot of sense too. :dunno:Pretty tough decision. Because a 4" GP100 makes ALOT of sense too. Damnit. I hate questions like these.

Depending on definition of Production / Custom Shop :)

Wilson CQB in .45ACP, grey over black, gold dot front sight, wooden grips, no magwell, single sided safety :)

Kimber TLE with some wood grips and a GI recoil set up, solid trigger, replace plastic MSH and some replacement mags.

Yeah, you would need to define "production". Most production 1911s wouldn't come close to that pricetag. You are squarely in semi-custom territory with that pricerange.

I'm with hokie on the realistic production. The Dan Wesson models are hard to beat. I've got a CBOB and love it, but if I could have only one I'd have to get a VBOB. I like the upgraded parts and bead blast finish.

OK. If Wilson is allowed, them I'd take a TE Pro bobtail. And if that breaks the $3000 limit, then make it a Wilson flush crowned Pro with a bobtail.

    :headscratch:

At $3000, you're talking about semi-custom guns, not production.

By the way, I never understood people who change their tone completely depending on the sub-forum they're posting in. Its weak.

That said, the best production 1911s available now, in my opinion, are as follows in no particular order.

    Dan Wesson Valor

Semi custom under $3000 I like the TGO1, actual production level 1911, the DW Valor.

nothing "semi-custom" about the TGO-1, it comes only 1 way ;)
