If open carry was NORMAL, would you chage your carry gun?

I know, this is a rip off a similar thread on here right now. However, the question was if open carry was an option, would you change your gun. I want to flip it a little bit to get a better answer out of people, so here it goes.

If open carry were as normal as say walking a dog, as in every 1 out of 10 to 15 or so people you saw on the street open carried, and it was something that the general public came to accept, would you carry a different gun/holster setup? I know this is a stretch but imagine a world where open carry is the flat out norm (how it should be IMHO). No one batted an eye and cops were not called. There would be a gun around every corner and the bad guys know it. Snatch and grab would be unimaginable as there would be another gun toting good doer around the bend to aid in this situation and your "tactical advantage" of staying concealed became a moot point.

In this type of climate, would you opt for a larger gun and a nice open carry holster? I myself would carry a G17/19 all the time in a Serpa holster. Like I said previously-this is a bit of a stretch, but what do you say?

An armed society is a polite society is what I say.

I would still conceal if I had the option. And, no I would not change weapons if I were to open carry.

Come to the Tidewater area of Virginia. It's not quite at the 1:15 ratio you describe but unless you are dressed like a total thug, nobody seems to notice or care about OC.

I mostly CC because I'm not really a tucked-in-shirt kinda guy but I have both holsters sitting out, ready to use.

You're right. I see a lot of open carry around here too.

I would probably open carry in the scenario you describe. I wouldn't change my primary carry gun (G23) or holster (High Noon Slide Guard)
  6. Daily carry is a g23, it works fine for open or concealed carry.

No, I see no benefit in letting others know I carry. I do rotate between carry weapons, and would continue.

    I'd still carry concealed too.

I would absolutely oc so I am not stuck dressing aground my gun... I think I would also swap my g27 out for my g22. A few more rounds can't hurt.

I think I would still probably carry concealed if that was an option. But if concealed carry was outlawed and open carry was mandatory: NO - I would keep my same carry guns.

I carry a G17 concealed 75% of the time with no problems. It is already a proven combat handgun that is open carried around the world, so I would have no need to upgrade.

I also CCW a G30 that I would not change (the G21 just doesnt fit me as well).

Not sure what I would do with my G26 though - would probably live in my glove box.

I would get a couple of pistols like Josey Wales. I'd carry one on the left side and the other right hand cross draw tucked in the belt. And I'd get the hat. And at some point I would practice shooting two guns at the same time.

Nope. Open carry is legal where I live, but I still conceal full size guns on a daily basis.

Nope would still carry my G29. I open carry when fishing, hiking and hunting, switch out the clips and it becomes a perfect cc.

I almost never OC. I do this not because it may freak people out, I feel its more likely to make me a target rather than being a deterrent. I don't know if I'm correct about that. But having been in a robbery, I'd rather be the only one that can tell I'm armed until I decide to use it. I want the element of surprise on my side, I want the option of blending into the herd rather than standing out as a primary target.

So whether its common enough to no longer be considered out of the ordinary does not factor into my decision.

I recently open carried for the first time. Went to a theater to see a comedy show, seating was 2700, anything over 2500 seats is a no concealed carry zone. Nobody noticed, as far as I noticed. Basically it was the only legal option open to me.

I'd switch to my k-frame from my PPK as a primary. I currently cc my G17 occasionally as well, so I guess that gun wouldn't change.

I have no interest in open carry beyond remote locations like walking the woods. IMHO open. Carry is too much like showing a poker hand and I have no interest in being in that position.

No and no. I'd rather it be a surprise, and I like my P2000 too much to change.

I thought I was the only one packing a full size CC. I carry a 1st gen 17, or my favorite, the Walther P99 when I CC. Otherwise "I Rock Out With My Redhawk Out." But that is more for when I am heading AWAY from town. But I do stop into the gas station, convenience store, etc. while wearing that great big thing right out there in the open. You may be surprised how fast I can get it into action too.
