I just read a thread on another forum where I guy just got his semi-auto handgun back from customer service form the third time. Let's just say it was from a major manufacturer that has good customer service. It seems the trigger would at times fail to reset for the next shot.
I dunno. I don't think I'm a Glock fanboy, but if that had been me and the gun still didn't work after the first time back from repairs, I'd have asked for my money back and I'd have bought a Glock instead.
Yeah, I'm aware that even here at GT you can read lots of threads with complaints about brass to the face and things like that, but generally I think the Glock reputation as guns that go bang every time is pretty much earned.
Third time is most definitely not the charm. To me, it's the signal to move on. That is why most people end up with a collection of Glocks. They are simple, reasonably priced and they work every single time!
Over the years I've sent pistols in for repairs from several manufacturers with varying results including Glock. Most were repaired satisfactorily and two were not: The first a Colt Mustang plus2 that wouldn't reliably function which went back to the dealer I bought it from after attempted repairs failed to fix it, for a refund on a different gun. The other was my first Glock a gen2 G23 that I bought new and was experiencing failure to feed problems. I sent it in and got it back from Glock with a list of things that could possibly lead to the problem but none of the components listed were changed. No new parts were installed in this Glock at the factory. Guess what, when I got it back it was still malfunctioning in the same manner. By this time I was unhappy with the gun and I was close to getting rid of it and Glocks in general as it was my CCW gun and was unreliable. There was a Glock Armorer in the Spokane WA area that looked it over for the final time and said he thought the recoil spring was fatigued. He sold me one for a few bucks and the problem was solved. I never did figure out why the armorer at Glock gave me a list of possible internal components that might cause the problem yet changed out none of them?
My last three new Glocks had problems and all three had to have recoil springs replaced. Fortunately, there has always been a GSSF tournament close by so I let them look at it and get repaired for free.
I started to concealed carry with a Glock G26 and it was so uncomfortable after multiple attempts at different holsters that I gave up and sold it, I then moved on to a Ruger LCP, this thing was amazing to carry, I used a wallet holster and never even knew it was there, but that thing refused to feed and jammed constantly, nothing seemed to fix this problem, after realizing that I was carrying a worthless gun I am now back into a G29, I am very comfortable with the fact that it will work when I need it to, but I'm back in the same predicament with finding a holster that will make it at least bareable to carry, it feels like a brick in my pants.
I had an LCP and had the same problem, plus I couldn't shoot it accurately at all, and I hated the snappiness of it and therefore never practices with it (which is probably why I couldn't shoot it well). I looked at the 26 and felt it was too bulky for pocket holster carry. I looked at the S&W Shield and liked its size and weight, but didn't care for the trigger. Then I found the Ruger LC9s and it has become my everyday carry. So far it is as reliable as my Glocks, and seems the perfect balance between capacity and size, combined with ease of shooting and of a decent self defense caliber.

I use a Glock Sport Holster to carry my G29. Just purchased this particular Glock the first of the month but .. like the others I own I love it. I've used Glock Sport Holsters often with my Glocks and had great success. The carry can be adjusted by cutting the tabs in the belt loops for a personal best fit. They're cheap enough to try. I think the 29 will be my carry gun in the Winter, it is like a brick in some ways that's true, but in others it will go "bang" and neutralize most targets readily and with a great regularity. I have a box of holsters, it's no easy deal to get one you really love. Good luck!
