    I used to hate GLOCK'S.

Grew up shooting pistols. My Dad considered learning the pistol as part of young mans education. He said it was the modern equivelent of a Rapier. and every Gentleman should have, and know how to use a pistol.

It just stuck with me. I shoot regular. If I go a few days without shooting I feel like, well, its over due. It has been kind of like working out for me. I am 34 and have owned a Pistol since 14yrs. In fact if I feel to lazy to hit the gym, I can justify (in my own mind anyway) by pulling out a box of target shells and headed for the shooting range.

I have owned alot of pistols including a springfield 1911 .45, a CZ 75b, beretta-92 and a sig 229 among many others, but my first pistol a smith and wesson model 39, for my 14 birthday. I know I put every bit of 25,000rds through that 39. And the 1911 probably 10,000 before I sold it.

So I decided I needed a new carry pistol the other day. Had my sights set on a CZ P-01. Used to own a CZ-75 and liked it. So I got in my truck and headed out pistol shopping.

    I came home with a Glock 23.

    So what can I say?

I have probably 400rds through the glock right now....and...I like it!

It dont seem as well made as some others I have owned, and the damn thing feels cheesy and looks damn ugly.

But it shoots well, point of aim is right on point of impact out of the box. More than I could say for a few pistols I have had new.

And the .40 S&W, well, look. I know a 9mm can get the job done. And you 9mm guys can shoot pretty slick with the rapid PTat, TaT,Tat, TAT. and all, but the .40 Goes BANG! and I like the extra horsepower. Recoil is no problem for me and the 23 glock to me don't recoil bad at all anyway.

A yugo can get me from point a to be just fine, but I like my american V8. And the .45, yeah I had one, and it's a good ole round. Accurate, manageable. But in my opinion it aint got nuthin on the .40 and the .45 ammo is rediculously high anymore.

    So I got the .40 in a glock 23

Now I am on GlockTalk, and I like Glocks. The glock .45 is looking good right now.

    Welcome! :wavey:

I smack-talked them for years, then got a 10mm. I like it, but am unlikely to buy another.

I promised myself 20+ years ago I would never own a Glock.
And never ever own any gun in 9mm.

Now my favorite carry gun is a Glock gen 3 EXO G27/40.
With a G23 Storm Lake 40-9mm conversion barrel and a Ghost Rocket connector.

    11 rounds of Speer GDHP 124 gr +P @ 1220 fps and 410 e
is almost an exact match for my 5 shot 2" S&W 640-1/357 Magnum.

Times have changed and so have I.

    Never say never - LOL!

The first handgun I ever shot was a Glock in the Police Academy so I've been drinking the Kool Aid since I was 18  They're fantastic handguns. Your Glock collection will assuredly grow...

I hated Glocks too 20 yrs ago. But my g21 gen3 sprouted a twin. And then they had an offspring g21 gen 4. They just seem to keep multiplying.
Still got my 226 and 229. But they are back in their boxes now.

I made fun of Glocks until a guy next to me at the range 11 years ago let me shoot his G21. That was the end of poking fun, and I purchased my own shortly thereafter. I'm not a Glock fanboy. I have other pistols, but I love my Glocks.

    That was me, too.

I finally told myself I would master the Glock or die trying.

I'm on Glock #3 now and I'm a HUGE fan of the G21SF. I love that hogleg!

I did not like Glocks until a good friend of mine bought one. Once I started shooting it, I was hooked.

    :wow: Try a .45 GAP - you'll be glad you did!:wow:

Welcome - I'm with you on the 22 and 23 40 cal's- have em and love em. But man my g37 - most accurate handgun I ever used.

And I tried to not like Glocks, really. I shot everything else hoping to find something better but I gave up.

I converted a coworker last week. Did nothing but talk about how great his Kimber was and downplay the plastic. One trip to the range with my Glock 23 and he purchased one before leaving the range.

    Hahaha that pic is awesome!

I always knew they were great guns but never bought one because they are so ugly lol. Finally decided I wanted a gun that really worked all the time, so I took a sip and won't go back :) .

Congrats, and welcome to GT! I qualified with .45 when I was in the service back in the 80s/90s, and my very first Glock was G23, back in 1993. I still have it and it's still just every bit as good as the first day I got it.

    Enjoy the new ride.

Did you end up with a gen3 or gen4?
.40 vs 9mm is way overrated and people should just shoot what they're most accurate with, because a good SD 9mm "HST or Ranger T" will still be a devastating wound. Glad you got the caliber you are most happy with!

    now......:needspics:

    :agree:

Welcome to the club... I was once a Glock Hater myself. A couple trips to the range testing out a couple and I got myself GEN3 19.

  19. Welcome,

And maybe it's me but I think the compact Glock 23/19's and such are some of the best looking polymer guns on the market! Everything is proportionate and no protruding knobs/levers. Love it!
