Hi all, I want to hear what you all think. I bought a $329.99 Remington 870 wood stock,Express 12 guage, with a 28' barrel, and just cant bear to leave it as my truck gun with that size barrel. I thought about buying another shotgun with smaller barrel, but with all my factoring in I think i'll settle for a $100 new 18.5 barrel. The way i look at it is, I was looking at the New England Pardner for $169, $199 Mossberg's Maverick and not to forget $30 CA fee, and about $20-$25 for tax. So what do you think just buy a 18.5' barrel or buy whole new shorter barrel shotgun?

Brownell's has great barrels for the 870. I recently purchased an 870P barrel (18", IC, RS, parkerized) from them for my 870 HD/Comp shotgun and I am happy with it.

Take a look at this link I found on the Remington Country Store website. It is a very good price on a barrel:

Are the 870P parkerized barrels different? I may be interested in swapping one with rifle sights for just a bead model.

You did get in contact but are wanting to trade barrels not buy one.

As for the Link to the Remington site.....The bad thing is that I suspect that posting is a couple years old and they have simply failed to remove it as there has been no such part number on the dealers parts list for a couple years. And it has been many years since any Remington barrel had an original price of $75. So bottom line, that barrel is not being sold by Remington and the few they had, which were seconds, have been gone for some time.

Guys, even if it was available it is not what a couple of you indicated you needed as that barrel has the Trijicon front sights that is epoxied over the front ramp. It will only work with the Wilson/Scattergun or Trijicon rear ghost right sights and they are sold by the set so it would only work for the guys wanting to set up GR sights. The front sight is to high to use like a bead sight.

Call them at 1-800-243-9700 and let us know what you found out.

They are closed J.D, but I guess it may be true, price may be old, but once it Remington opens on Monday I'll be calling them. For $59+8 shipping beats $100, but if it's old and what not, I guess I'll need to fork up $100.

For Remington's sake they need to remove the advertisement... By law a company has to honor advertisement...

Exactly^ 'false advertisement,' if they do not honor their sale.

If you add it to your cart it says this:

This item does not allow backorders, quantity requested is greater than the available inventory (0).

It says this with only one in the cart.

The key word here is "Close Out" that means this is an item they are not going to manufacture any longer. So yes, if they advestise a price then try to sell the item for a higher price, then there is an issue. There is no issue when a close out item is gone and no more are available....

As I sugested. These are nolonger available.
