I had never shot a 1911 or a .45 until the other day when I got to tryout a Ruger SR1911. Wow!!!! It was amazing!! Best of all I was driving nails with it, shot it much better then my puny Glock 19! Too bad I already have a gp100 on order or I would of got one of these, I'm definitely going to get one next.

For the first time it made me wonder why did our military stop using 1911's? Before I ever shot a .45/1911 I never really questioned it, and thought they knew what they were doing and it was for the greater good, but now I know they were wrong for switching to that weak 9mm Italian junk. And before I shot the 1911 I had planned to get a m9a1 after my gp100 but I'm not anymore.

I honestly don't know why anyone would use anything less then a .45 after shooting one. I'm 20 years old very scrawny at 5"11 and 135 pounds and look 5 years younger then I am. If I can handle a .45 that good any man or women should be able to.

This whole gun thing is an addiction I've never been addicted to anything in my life until I bought that first Glock 19 at the beginning of the year, now I'm up to 4 guns and one currently on order... everything from an Ak to a ruger sr22, never thought it was going to be like this looks like now I'll be picking up a sr1911 a little while after my gp100 comes in....

Yeah, you're screwed now. Take my word for it, you will try to escape the 1911....but you will be back.

After a few decades with the 1911 you begin to wonder what all the fuss about new designs is all about:dunno:

and I will bet you will decades from today.

    It's flat

    it's ergonomic

IF you approach it with an open mind you can shoot it well in a short period of time

Contrary to what some say, it is "safe" yet fast

It really doesn't have to have a high cap mag for most handgun "chores"

Any other handgun that can claim three of those five is doing well, even in this "modern" era.

Of all the guns I have ever shot, the 1911 is the sweetest.

I am not talking about the recoil. I am talking about newbies and 1911 jams. some 1911 don't come from the factory perfect and thus require a slight tuning and know how. it totally freaks them out when their 1911 does not function and start spewing something like "I paid this amount and it should not happen blah blah blah... I can buy 5 glocks for the same price blah blah blah.. or my favorite one, "I paid $2k for a Les Baer and the grip screw came loose":rofl::rofl:

If you shoot it like the guy in your avatar is holding it, (I'm assuming that's you?:dunno:), then Larry Vickers would punch you in the nuts.

Thats a Glock 18 with a collapsible stock in the picture, if you look hard you can see the stock it kinda blends. So looks like I would be punching him.

With the power the .45 seemed to have I doubt you would have to worry about a high capacity mag.

The 1911 is one of the easiest pistols to shoot well, it has the right trigger and grip for anyone's hands.
