I love My M500

    Mossberg M 500, that is. I won it at the 1989 Second Chance Pin Shoot in MI and it has been going strong ever since. Buckshot, slugs, birdshot, NO PROBLEMS. :cool:

    huge fan of the mossberg 500. qualified and carried them on duty in the Navy, so quite fond of them. i have a 590A1 and its been flawless.

    My US Navy shotgun was an Ithaca Model 1897 pump shotgun.

    That's right. External hammer, five-shot magazine tube. OO buckshot, 9-pellet, paper shell. I used it for gangplank defense.

    Sounds more like a winchester 1897 shotgun.

    Ithaca pump gun in military use would have been a model 37 and would not have had an exposed hammer.
