Just a quick range report to share with everyone...
Yesterday I picked up the S&W M&P 15-22 MOE model. I got it out to the range this morning just to make sure it was going to feed and eject properly.

Everything went well. I ran about 100 rounds Remington 22 Thunderbolt High Velocity rounds through the rifle. It fed and ejected just fine. The only problem I encountered was ammo related. I had a few rounds that didn't ignite. Inspection of the rounds clearly showed the dented rims so I blame the ammo, not the rifle.

Anyway, this seems to be a pretty nice little plinker. The Magpul MBUS sights were set up pretty much at zero already so I didn't have to fuss around with adjustments. I did top the rifle off with a Bushnell Holo-sight so the rifle pretty well emulates my real AR15 that is topped with an EoTech optic. It was fun to shoot and saves me somewhere around 40 cents every pull of the trigger. All the controls are placed and work just like a real AR15 so you can practice your AR15 fundamentals without breaking the bank. It was a lot of fun this morning and I'm looking forward to getting her out again real soon.

When the time comes; I think I'll use this to teach my sons the AR platform.

Glad to hear it went well I purchased the same model. But I would suggest running better ammo. I'm waiting on some goodies for mine.

It's nice to hear some good reviews. A 15-22 was supposed be my next toy but I bought another glock. I will definitely be picking up one by end of the summer.

Of all the socalled tactical 22 rifles I think the M&P15-22 is by far the best one. I've owned the Colt/Umarex M4, the Sig 522 and a GSG5, the M&P is my favorite. Enjoy yours.

Very nice. A friend of mine just bought one too. They are nice rifles. :wavey:

They are a lot cheaper to shoot. I love my .22 AR Upper.

Me too! I just bought a Spike's Tactical dedicated .22lr upper for my AR. I am loving the cost savings of the ammo. I will be practicing a lot more like I should be.

I juat saw on shooting usa where they reviewed this rifle. As a practice rifle for the AR, it is very good. I have been looking at them, but heard there were cycling problems. Can anyone talk about if this is a problem on these 22lr's?

Yes, this was the MOE model so it came with the Magpul stock, grip, and MBUS sights. I added the optic and the light.

Two issues that I was aware of that are related to cycling are as follows:

It seems the early runs has some issues with the ejector placement. The "fix" was to slightly bend it inward or upward to correct the issue. I did not experience this with the one I purchased.

The other issue is not the rifle but the individual loading the magazine. The rifle comes with instructions to load one round at a time. The magazine in not a double stack but the rounds do stagger a bit as they are loaded into the magazine (when loaded correctly). I think many folks felt they could save time by pulling the follower all the way down and dropping a bunch of rounds into the magazine. By doing so the rounds were not properly staggered and this causes them not to feed properly. This is user error, not a problem with the rifle.

    Hope this helps

I just bought one for my son. We both played hookey yesterday afternoon and took it to the range. We ran between 350 and 400 rounds through it and not a single malfunction. The boy had a blast. I think I now have a range buddy.

  19. Went through another 250 flawless rounds, today. This is one sweet shooter.

    LOL . . . Since purchasing the 15-22, my 22lr. inventory is up to 12,500 rounds. Prior to the 15-22, I normally kept a 2000 to 3000 rounds handy. I shoot the 15-22 2 to 3 times a week . . . Gotta love it.
