  5. Good Luck, I have had a 10MM conversion barrel on backorder for going on 2 months at Glockmeister they have none for the G21 or the G30. I couldnt fine anyone with them, but I can wait!

May be a noob question but why 10mm over other calibers to hunt with?

When he dropped that big buck right in his tracks! Wow! 10mm baby. And I like that he looks at handgun hunting with a Glock like bow hunting. Same principles. You have to have a close shot , be stealthy and be ethical..

The G20 with the six inch barrel does nice work on Monterey County wild pigs, too. Great sausage, let me tell you.

I imagine shot placement isn't so critical when punching .45+" holes in nutria!

Gotta love the extended barrels they use, which make all the difference in .45 ballistics. I have a 6.6" SS LWD barrel and a #24 spring that I put in one of my G21SF's when I head out into bear country. Those 255 gr. Buffalo Bore hard-cast lead flatnoses don't slow down for much.

Because hot 10mm rounds have about twice the power (energy) of a decent 9mm round. Here are some ESTIMATES of power figures for hot loaded ammunition in the big three calibers vs. 10mm:

9mm: 400-450ft-lbs of energy at the muzzle
    .40S&W: 425-500ft-lbs
    .45ACP: 425-500ft-lbs
    10mm: 700-800ft-lbs

I KNOW that there might be some 9mm, .40S&W, or .45ACP load out there that beats those numbers, but they are just general ranges that should encompass 99% of defensive "hot" loads.

Just yesterday I went and chronographed a bunch of 10mm rounds. This is out of my G29, so add another 75-100fps for a full-size G20 (or add about 150fps to get an idea of what that guy was using in the video). I fired a 165gr Gold Dot at 1426fps (745ft-lbs), and a 135gr Nosler JHP at 1626fps (792ft-lbs). The guy in that video was using a G20 with a 6" barrel. Those two loads I mentioned would be making 825ft-lbs and 866ft-lbs respectively out of a STOCK G20 w/ 4.6" barrel. I imagine they would be over 900ft-lbs out of a 6" barrel. That's nearly double the energy of a 9mm, .40S&W, or .45ACP. But, obviously, the .45ACP held it's own. The guy used one in the video.

Most 10mm hunters tend to use either hardcast lead bullets of about 200gr at 1250-1300fps, or 180-200gr Hornady XTPs at 1400 or 1300fps. Those are some serious pistol loads, especially for an auto. That kills .357Magnum, and approaches the lower end of .41Magnum.

OP, AWESOME video, BTW. I'm going to post a link in the 10 Ring. I hope you don't mind.

I wish LWD would make a 8 inch 10mm replacement barrel....

    As was said above...

A standard 9mm has a muzzle energy of about 300 to 350 Ft. Lbs.
A standard .40S&W or .45ACP has a muzzle energy of about 400 to 450 Ft. Lbs.
A standard "Full Power" 10mm has a muzzle energy of about 550 to 650 Ft. Lbs. but the real reason is that at the 100 yard mark the 10mm still delivers around 500 Ft. Lbs. of energy. Even better is "Nuclear Power" or "Hot" 10mm loads have any where from 700 to as much as 850 Ft. Lbs. of energy at the muzzle. Couple that power with a Glock 20 in 10mm and you have a service sized side arm loaded with 15 rounds or 17 rounds in the magazine. It is hard to beat.

    Can a 45acp+P in a 6 inch G21 barrel reap any benefits ?

    Who could make a 8inch G20 barrel?
