Howdy Everybody, I have been looking for a hunting load for my Taurus Gaucho .45 Colt. All the factory loads are either too lame or they are too hot. Some, like the Cor Bon, Buffalo, etc are like .44 Magnum load range. The SAAMI spec for a .45 Colt is 15,900CUPs and my old Speer manual has a section with loads for the Ruger BlackHawk and these loads were all less than 25,000CUP but hotteer than what I want to shoot from my gun. I want to use Blue Dot and I checked Allaints website and for a 260gr they list a max of 13grs @ 941ft/sec and 12.9grs w/ a 250gr SWC @1,028ft/seec. I settled for 13.2grs w/ a 250gr Hornady XTP JHP and here is the results......... It seem to work pretty good to me. I shot it into my test media from about 20yds. I chrony died so I'm not sure of the velocity but it is pretty hot. Just a guess, I would say it is around 1,100ft/sec out of my 7 1/2" barrel. I think it would work pretty good on a small sized whitetail at less than 30yds. Paul Wanna kill these ads? We can help!
