seeing that a few states started various seasons this past weekend i just wanted to see how everyone made out.

in AZ dove season started. i bagged a total of 0 out of 0, but had a great time anyway. it was still too hot where i was hunting and the few that i saw were high flying with no thoughts of slowing down. i'm going to head farther north til it starts to cool down. i though the little bit of rain would've helped.

    still it beat working ;f

I sat by my pond and watched the geese fly overhead. If they are at the right height and angle, I'll take a shot.

Mostly, I just sat there and watched a hen mallard paddle around while she softly sang "morp, morp."

Also watched a red squirrel chase a gray squirrel. I thought about filling them with #2 steel shot, but figured I'd get them some other time with my .22. Same thing with 2 rabbits playing tag.

Overall, a most satisfying time :)

Got 4 dove. Had a great time with family and friends.

Found a place with a lot of hog sign on public land nearby and have a good 165 grain Hornady SST load worked up for the '06.

Got drawn for muzzleloader deer and bear hunting at Madison County WMA in October.

All this, plus football season is about to start! ;)

Guys around here are split between dove and early goose season. Our local handyman told me his group killed 4 honkers yesterday and were planning another hunt for tomorrow.

He then stated he wouldn't have time to work on my mower's transmission for a "couple of days". Sometimes life just ain't fair!

No hunting yet, but I went to deer camp outside of Eureka Springs AR to set up for deer season. Stopped by the Beaver Tailwaters for some trouting. Found out my girlfriend is a better fly fisher than me. Better equipped too. Dang! She thinks she'd be a better rifle shot than me too but won't shoot at Bambi. My goals for deer season this year are to win in poker at camp and not fall asleep in the stand. Oh and of course a trophy buck. You have to watch out around Eureka though, some deer turn up wearing bandanas. Just try not to shoot the ones with NAMES!

I tried out my new 11-87 and got my limit on the day i went out. It was too easy. I just sat by our grain bins and the dove just kept replenishing themselves on the guidewire.

I got 5 today and only hunted from 5:30 pm till sunset.
I didn't shoot them off a guidewire though.
Dove season opens here at 12pm, can't get too early a start.
I would have gone earlier but there was quite a downpour
    going on in the afternoon.
    Good shooting!

Wow congrats. You have more balls than I do. How many shots did it take and where did they strike? Just curious.

    kentley,
12 deer? Wow! Up here in NH one can get 2 per year between archery and firearms, plus a third with a special permit in the eastern half. Sounds more like killing off pests to me! Good luck and happy hunting! P-990
