How to ensure I get a NEWER P238

Hey all, I'm about to order a Sig P238 from Ft. Belvoir Gun Sales, they of course will get it from one of their distributors. I heard some of the first run models had issues, but the problem was supposedly fixed in the later models.

My question is, how do I ensure that I get a newer model p238? Is it as simple as asking about the serial #? Is that even something I can request as a third party? I just want to be as sure as possible that some dealer doesn't foist off some really old stock on me.

    Thanks! JJ

Good question, I will have the same problem with the type of pistol I'm looking to buy. So, I will request a picture (because It will tell me if it's the newer model or not). However, if I was you I would request the build date to be newer and have it verified. If they are not willing to do that, then go some ware else. You are the customer.

The production date will be on a sticker on the gun box.

Also as long as the serial number is 27A..., it is past all the original problem lots.

Just look as the slide width. If it's an HD slide like they're putting on all the models now, it's a newer type. I have the older slimmer slide ,but have had zero problems with it so far.

Thanks for all the good info! Like I said it'll be coming from a distributor so I won't get to see it until it gets to the BX, I just don't want to have to send it back and wait again.
