I carried a 1911 for many years. 90% of them were full size and I dabbled with an officers model for a while but I didn't shoot it nearly as well as the full size 1911's.
I didn't like my G21 at first because it was so wide and blocky feeling, and of course the horrible Glock trigger.
I carry the 21 for S.D. and it is my nightstand gun. Hard to argue the fact that 14 rounds of 45 and the ease and reliability of it make it favorable.
I still shoot 1911's a lot and I do love them more than any other handgun I've ever had or probably will have.
Here is the change that I am referring to:

Because I carry the 21 and shoot it a lot I am perfectly comfortable with it and it is a good feeling gun in my hand.
I now get this feeling with the 1911's of... "Wow is this a slim feeling gun in my hand. Almost strange feeling".
    How things change... Hey?
I know... just shoot the 1911's more!!!

I like the newer 'SF' GLOCKs... planning to put together a G20 SF for whitetail hunting this next fall.

The only Glocks I really like are in 9mm.

I am similar to you! Hopefully with the edition of the EMP, It will take over as my EDC. Right now though I am still partial to my HK P7 and G19. I can understand size being a concern of the 21, but I love Glock triggers. There not a 1911, but I'd rather have a glock for trigger reasoning over just about anything else out there after 1911.

I too have over the years migrated to the glock where it feels very natural in my hand and other feel strange. I have carried the Glock on duty for years, and carry the G17 or 22 often on my own time. I cant see myself ever changing, because quite frankly, I dont think I would feel as confident with anything else.

I've Comfortable with both my Glocks and my 1911's . No doubt the 1911 points better. I'd defend myself with either.

This sort of surprises me since I know you are a 45 guy... big time.
The 21 is a great shooter. Very easy recoil and fairly accurate.
I think it points well too.
    Shoot a 21 much?
    It is my favorite Glock.

I shoot well enough with my FNP'S and my Rugers but I feel that I just naturally shoot better with a 1911.I love the feel of a 1911 in my hand, but the funny thing is,at one time the 1911 held no appeal to me whatsoever.I sold my HighStandard 1911 to fund my FNP45 USG model, while the FNP is a great gun I missed the HighStandard. One day I was in my favorite toy store checking the trade in value of my Marlin 336 there was a guy in there that fell in love with my Marlin,he was in there doing the same with a Colt 1991 A1 and offered to trade even.I took his number and told him I'd think about it,called him back .Long story short we traded,I got the pistol,300 rounds of ammo and five mags,he got the Marlin and 4 boxes of ammo,2 of which was given to me.The Colt is easily worth 3 times the Marlin. He was a gun smith working towards his license (or so he said),told me he did some upgrades, dont remember what all but springs were part of it.The gun shoots like a dream with no malfunctions at all.The only thing I'm not crazy about is the durocoat, though it was a good job I prefer blueing.
