How the heck

  1. Can a vehicle hit a HORSE hard enough to fatally injure it and drive off? Should I be looking for a M1 Abrams cruising the neighborhood?

I've seen cars mangled from hitting a deer...but I would expect something less than a big rig to be damn near obliterated from hitting a horse.:dunno:

  3. Glancing strike by a truck with enough force to induce cardiac tamponade?

  4. Horses are taller. I had one were the horse rolled over the top of the car after being hit at 55 mph. The roof crushed in a little though so I would think they would stop.

P.s. if there is anything I learned from John Belushi it's that horses can be scared to death....

    Maybe Rosie O'Donnell was driving.
  6. In Arizona, we have trucks that can just about go face to face with a giraffe.

If Rosie O'Donnell got into a lifted one ton truck, it would be a low rider.

The truck probably had a Ranch Hand front bumper/grill guard or a home made rig.
  7. No, the poor horse bled out from its injuries.
  8. Did you stop by Goodyear PD and ask to check their fleet? :whistling:
  9. Horses can be more fragile than most people realize. Many years a Portland PD was just getting it's horse patrol off the ground and one of the animals slipped on a metal plate in the sidewalk and fell. The animal panicked itself into a heart attack.
  10. There was an incident in NYC back before the Iraq war where "peace" protestors (who bore a striking resemblance to the anarchists is Seattle who cover their faces while they break stuff) scattered ball bearings in the path of mounted NYPD with the intent to bring down the horses. If I remember correctly, several officers and their horses were injured, though the focus of the news stories at the time was on the "excessive" police response.

Yrs ago I took out cow with pickup (in reverse) no damage to pickup....
I was attempting to block its escape. It was running alongside... It cut in/I had brakes but couldn't stop in time.
