How much cash do you typically carry when you leave your house? Don't count the times when you intentionally leave to buy something expensive, we're talking everyday carry cash.

Depends on how much my Wife lets me have

Usually about $20 or so... I rarely use cash.

Usually none. Cash is pointless, everyone takes credit cards now.

Zero unless I'm traveling, and even then I keep it to a hundred bucks or less. I just don't have a need to keep it on me.

  9. I usually have $25 to $100 in my wallet. If I'm going out of town on say a day trip I usually carry $100 to $200 + debit and credit cards.

    Try to keep between $20-$100.

Helps keep from having to keep track of a lot of small (<$10) transactions.

I also keep three blank checks.

Same here but I only use cash. No plastic here. If I don't have the cash I don't buy it.

I usually have $0 on me, but I have been saying for about six months that I do need to carry some cash on me. If I go to a mom and pop shop I prefer to pay in cash, if its a small purchase.

    Under a regime.
Used to be zero. Here is why that does not happen anymore. A few months ago I went down to the desert to do some shooting. Check my gas tank, I need some gas. No big deal I will get it on my way back up out of the desert. I roll into the gas station with about 30 miles range left in my Silverado and I am 60 miles from home. Open my wallet, crap I left my debit card in my uniform shirt at the station. No big deal I will use my credit card, wrong. A week earlier the credit card company sent me a new credit card, I tossed it aside thinking " I never use my credit card, I will activate it later". So no I have no cash, no debit card and no credit card.

When I gassed up I went in and said "40 on pump 5" they just tossed my card in the pump 5 slot and let me gas up. Now I have a belly full of fuel and no way to pay them. Long story short I talked with the manager who was thankfully headed to San Diego as well. I showed him some things to hopefully prove I was not a dirtbag gave him a copy of my license and promised to meet him on the off ramp by my house with his money. He agreed, we met and I gave him his dough plus a little for his favorite 6 pack. Keeping 20-40 bucks for emergencies is not a bad idea.

I keep about a half-tank worth of cash in the ashtrays of my cars for this reason. You never know. I'd rather leave it in the car and out of sight than in my wallet, as that could get spent without a second thought and who knows when you're going to need a few bucks on the road.

$150 +/-50 in my wallet. $20 hidden in my car.

I don't use cash on a day to day basis but it sure can help you get out of a jam.

$20-40 cash in my main wallet. Theres a fifty dollar bill folded up in my badge case for emergencies. Since my car will get about 500 miles on 11 gallons of diesel, I can make it home from just about anywhere I may find myself...and, a Whataburger for energy.

generally minimal amounts; i'm pretty dependent upon atm card for just about everything. however, after reading a recent thread by sam spade in ccw forum, i may be reevaluating circumstance.
