Just wondering how many shooters have sold their G21 or G30's after shooting the G37, G38 or G39?
Do you reload for the GAP?

I received my G37 in September 2003 and then sold my G21. I sold my G30 after taking delivery on my G38 in 2005. I've been reloading GAP since October 2003.

I also sold my G30SF after getting my G38. Not reloading yet but thinking about it.

For those handloading .45 GAP: roughly what is your cost per round?

If I get into GAP I will probably get into handloading as well and want to get some idea of how many rounds I'll need to break even.

    depends what bullet i load

I have thousands of 230gr FMJ slugs, so that's what load mostly

at "todays" current component prices, it cost me appx 18 cents pr round
or $9 pr 50 rnd box

*but* i have a source for free brass

    my costs

    primer 3.5 cents ea
    bullet , 12.5 cents ea
    powder 1.5 cents ea

new brass is 15 cents ea for Straline I "think"
You can find once fired brass for a little less if you search on-line

I'm now reloading for my 38 after getting some experience with pistol ammo with my G23, after reloading rifle and shotshell cartridges for decades.

Premium-bullet PD rounds cost me $26 per 50 or 52 cents each. That includes the full cost of a new Starline case and a Speer 185 Gold Dot, arguably the best PD bullet one can buy as a bullet; see http://glocktalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1184792 .

Practice PD rounds, all the same but assembled in 'free' fired cases cost about $18/50 or 36 cents each.

Target loads using Ranier TMJ 200g. semiwadcutters and using the same 'free' fired cases cost c. $10/50 or 20 cents each.

I use a Lee Turret press (a 4-holer that's self-indexing), Lee carbide dies in both calibers, a Lee powder dispenser atop the middle die, and a digital scale to establish and check charge weights. The Lee stuff is high quality, very inexpensive compared with other US-made equipment, and reliable.

One more thing--altho some may disagree with this, I strongly recommend choosing a powder and hence charge-weight range that CANNOT be doubled in the case. That way, if you ever 'try' to double-charge a case, that error will be highly obvious because powder will be spilling out of the top of the case. I use Hodgdon Universal* for PD rounds and Winchester SuperField or Hodgdon Longshot for target loads. You'll use APPROXIMATELY 5.5 - 7 grains of any of these powders; that'll fill the case about 2/3 full, which is easy to see as you're loading rounds.

    * chosen for its lack of muzzle flash; see http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0BTT/is_190_31/ai_n27380935/ .

I still have my Glock 30, but it mostly sits at home in the safe.
I prefer carrying my Glock 39 over my Glock 30.

Too much .45ACP ammo and Glock 30/21 magazines/accessories to get rid of my Glock 30.

Never sell a gun ! Bad idea. I got my g39 for one reason "carry"... with the 10 round mags from the g37 as backup... the role this gun plays in my life is like any other tool for use. Now the g30 has a place in my world also..home defense... car\auto companion.. as it stands right now I have 39 Guns total from wheel guns to shotguns, rifles, ect.. all have a place here at my house. If you ever get rid of a gun of any caliber it should be to your son, or brother for their protection. One day in the not so near future who says you will be able to go buy any gun we want. I say keep em all ...never met one I didn't like, but I am a gun junkie says the wife,so I could be wrong...but ill never admit to a thing.ramble ramble...

30sf was gone the minute I came back from shooting the 38 & 39 at the range. Danny warned me that it could happen like that.
