It's HD, not be Conan the Barbarian and take on the world.

In my 870, it's 4 in the tube and 4 on the side - 6 buck and 2 slugs.

That's a many rounds as any revolver, of which there are millions keeping families safe tonight and it's as many rounds as most every .45 Auto, also keeping families safe tonight.

If more is better I suppose you could have a little Red Flyer that you pull around too. I'm not bagging on people who have a real need for it but to be honest, we sometimes get lost in thinking that more is better when it's just nuts.

Just an FYI, according to Magpul's Art of the Dynamic Shotgun, "cruiser ready" is one in the chamber. "Cruiser Safe" is a loaded magazine but empty chamber.

Winchester 1300 defender --- Seven in the magazine, and five on the stock... I have three other scatterguns ready to roll, but they're not "tactical"... Just what I call farmboy irons (though I'm not a farmboy) ...

    870P:
Tube- six rounds of #4B in the house or 00B if I'm taking it out. Chamber empty.
Side saddle- four rounds of 00B and two slugs.

I keep it stored cruiser safe, as that's protocol at work and I'm used to making it hot when I pick it up.

5 in stock, 1 in chamber, 6 on sidesaddle, 5 on stock shell carrier, so 17 in total. Still considering putting another carrier on the other side of the carrier. And if that sounds crazy, I'm actually trying to make the thing a bit heavier to absorb some of the insane recoil.

What about using reduced recoil loads? Seems like that would be a lot easier than trying to make your shotgun a boat anchor.

I must be the minority then...only have the tube of the 870 loaded. No side saddle or butt cuff. I think if I need more than that (and the bedside Glock) to protect my home, I'm in some SERIOUS trouble.

try a limbsaver (cheaper) or maybe even look at a knoxx stock (more expensive) both help tremendously with recoil :wavey:

My SPAZ has 10 in it right now. 8 in the tube, one on the plate and one chambered. :wavey:

  18. I'm right next to you. I only have 6 in the tube of my 930 SPX. No side saddles.

I do have about 60 rounds in bandoliers that would make them easy to grab and go if needed.
