How long is it taking to get WI CCL?

Discussion in 'Carry Issues' started by geoemery, Dec 1, 2011.

  1. I talked to a friend today who is still waiting for his WI CCL. I sent my application in on Nov. 2 and got it on Nov.17. Another person sent his in on Nov. 1 and is still waiting. I used my DD-214. I was wondering if those who used training are taking longer to process.

I sent in my application on the night of Nov. 1st. The mail gets picked up from that box at noon, so it would have been noon on the 2nd.

I received it on Nov. 17th. Some people are waiting much longer. I think I was lucky. Tell him to Hang in there.

a friend who mailed it in a few days later got his 3 days after me and is #7000 something

i used my hunters safety to qualify

  4. Agonizer - thanks for the links.
Based on what I saw it appears that Hunter Safety and DD-214 seem to go through quicker but no guarantee. Also the fewer documents seem to be speed up the process.

Mailed on the morning of November 1st. Check cashed November 15. Received my permit (12xxx) on November 28.

I'm pretty sure that they didn't accomplish a first-come-first-served program.

Sent mine in on Nov. 6 (hence, they should have received it around the 8th), and received it on Dec. 21. I am number 28,xxx. Writing this with a G19 on my hip!

Folks could check the WIDOJ web site: http://www.doj.state.wi.us/dles/cib/ConcealedCarry/ConcealedCarry.asp for the current rules. If a person submitted after Dec 5 (IIRC) we're supposed to receive the CCL or a rejection within 21 days.

Wisconsin has been "adjusting" the rules a bit, it seems some folks might receive their CCL sooner than others. Plus, the volume of requests has swamped the staff.
