I've been looking for another really nice 1911 and I was curious as to how good the STI brand is. I've heard very good things, so I thought I'd ask some guys who have shot them. I think I like their Trojan best, I see the prices aren't too bad, how do they compare with Les Baer, or some of the other top quality 1911s?

STI imo is up there with the best production 1911's out there. The Trojan is an amazing gun and very well built. Even there low line spartan is built exceptionally well. I feel that the best production 1911 out there is the Springer TRP and the STI Trojan comes in second.
They have good CS and just flat out work. The TRP and Trojan are built like rocks, i just like the extreme checkering on the TRP a little better. You would definitely be well served with a Trojan. Just like the condoms, they work 99.9% of the time!

I own an Ed Brown,Colt,Les Baer, Wilson, Smith & Wesson, Sig, Glock, Kimber, and 8 STIs.

I like the STIs better than the rest.

My Trojan 6.0 9mm is the most accurate gun i own. It outshoots my dan wessons, Fusion, Springfields, kimbers, nighthawk, wilson and brown.

Some of those get awfully close but it blows my mind that a used STI Trojan that i spent $700 out shoots guns i paid 3x more for. the fit/finish isn't as amazing as my Brown, Wilson or Fusion but its still very nice.. Id rather have a more accurate dependable gun over a super tight show piece.

The only gun ive put on a stand that out shot my Trojan was a Les Baer with the 1.5 option.

I love those Baer's and will get one soon, but these STI's are just amazing... nwo if they would do one without the roll mark it would be perfect! hehehe

I hope they are badass, because I recently bought a NIB Legacy off of gunbroker and it's waiting on me to get back to Arkansas to pick it up. My FFL did tell me that it was one of the nicest guns he had seen or handled in a long time. I told him to put it back in the box and put it in the safe and keep his hands off of it.

Every 1911 (and 2011) I own is an STI... So I'm biased. I also live in Georgetown, so I'm doubly biased.

Get yourself and STI, and you won't regret it.

I love my 9mm Trojan. It's an awesome gun for the money.

STI makes outstanding 1911s. I have a few.

    Here's my Trojan and Legacy.

I LOVE my Trojan and can't wait to get it back. I am one of the few that has had a problem, but I'm not that concerned with it. I will probably get another Trojan in 9mm longslide at some point.

Does anyone have experience with the Sentinel Premier or any of STI custom shop guns? If so how do they rank against the likes of Brown and Baer?

I have a bunch of their fat guns and a few single stacks.

    Good stuff.

The Legacy ranks up there with with the Sentinel. It just doesn't have all of the its features. They're great 1911s.

The SP is a beauty. Especially when it's hardchromed.

Mine's gonna have those features, plus one:cool:(magwell, flush crown and hardchrome, minus the FCS) I'm also going to put a fiber optic front sight on the Legacy and am thinking pretty hard about removing the ambi-safety as well.
