Looked for a thread on this.....my S&W case has a hole for the lock; my Glock case does not....do you buy a lock that goes around both handles of the case or drill a hole?.....fix'n to fly...need to get prepared.

    Call me silly, BUT.....

If I were to be bent on stealing the weapon, why wouldn't I simply take the whole box.

Add to this the box is made of cheap plastic, one good smack and the case breaks.

Seems to me you need a better way of securing the firearm.

Have you given any thoughts to a real travel case, like a Pelican or Storm?

They are larger, strong, made of good materials and protective.

That is certainly good advice....just wanted to comply with TSA....don't fly much; but, for that matter, if I have any box in my suitcase, can't they steal it as well, even the whole bag!

I believe there is a very informative thread on the top of the "Carry Issues" forum. I want to say it is "Mac's Guide to Flying with a Firearm", you should check it out.

Drilled through handle and put master lock on. Done it that way for years and I never had problem, and I work for an airline = fly ALOT for free.

I considered doing just that....that's alll they did to the S/W cases. But when I went to get my TSA lock for my bag I found a pad lock with just enough shank to go around both handles leaving only 1/8" play...worked great!
    Thanks for the tip.

Pelican 1400. Two padlocks. Cable lock threaded through the padlocs and the suitcase frame.

Field stripped G27 doesn't look like a gun. Won't alarm anyone that may be peering over my shoulder at the ticket counter.

I bought a Pelican case that would let me take 2 guns and mags. It has a pressure valve and I bough to combo locks for it (has to locking holes. Then I bought TSA logs for my bag.

I just use the factory box and take my red cable lock that came with it, and wrap it around the handle a few times and then lock it.

But then again, I'm not using that to stop crooks or to travel with, just to keep kids' hands off it when I'm out of the room.
