How do u appendix carry?

Discussion in 'Carry Issues' started by plumbum2, Feb 16, 2014.

  1. Ok I get the general idea of it. I recently bought the raven vg2 with belt clip to test out in certain situations.
I tried it with a g19 at home and it's fine standing, but sitting it just digs. I'm tall 6'3" and not overweight, so that's not an issue.

I normally carry raven phantom OWB with pancake wings.
    Or threat solutions ucr iwb.

  3. I'm currently using the Raven VG II as well. I've found for sitting if I pull my pants up a little bit to get the gun more across my stomach it is comfortable. I use a G23 when I carry this way.

  4. It almost seems like you have get it closer to the main drain. LoL
  5. I have a Tagua leather holster that I use now and then for my 19. It's not ideal but it works. Not the best set up when trying to sit or put on shoes. I bought an Allen holster model 06 that works with my 19, 27, shield 9mm. It's like scuba diving clothing material with 1 belt clip. $ 8.00. It's perfect and the best one I've found yet for this style carry.
The shorter barrel guns just work better below the belt line. The 27 and Shield work out the best for me as of right now. I think it's going to work great for lite summer clothing.
  6. I plan on getting a shield before summer. I wish the vg2 would work on it

I got Galco Sto-N-Go AIWB holsters. I use one for my G26 and 19 and got another for a Taurus 5-shot 357 revolver. I, too, am 6'3" and not overweight (no "washboard abs" but still...). The holsters have one clip centered and a re-inforced mouth. I find AIWB extremely comfortable especially when sitting. I took a little mental getting used to having the Glocks pointed at my business but after reading and thinking and making sure I concentrate on what I am doing I am comfortable. The revolver is a piece of cake.

I like those Galco holsters and they were inexpensive (I think around $26 IIRC) but quite good quality.
  8. Seems like a shield/g26 etc would be a non issue because of the short slide...

I APPDX carry my G17 in an old Bianchi 4/4L holster. OWB.

Yup, you need a holster that keeps the rear of the slide & back of grip frame closer to belt height.

    Try a Blackhawk IWB size 6 for G19's & g30's ;)
  11. S&W 642, H&K p2000sk, and Kahr pm9
    All in comptac 2 oclock's at 12 o'clock.
I modify the belt clips slightly to raise the main body of the holster slightly.
When I sit I pull the holster slightly away initially as I sit.
It stops the top of the holster from pinching me. After the initial reposition, its perfectly comfortable.

I also have Mitch Rosen "the clipper" for 4 o'clock if wearing heavier clothing.
    I prefer 12oclock.
  12. G19 in JMCK AIWB.

  13. I suggest that you order one (or more) of the following:
    the CCC Shaggy;
    the Keeper's Keeper; or
    the 5-Shot SME.

  14. This is true.
The bigger guns will fit as well, just takes a little more effort to get them to fit just right. The higher they are above the belt line the less hassle when sitting, but it can become a printing issue as well if it's taken too far.
IWB has worked out for me far better than the side or 4pm position. I always had to be careful from printing when I wearing it that way. My shield fits so small I almost don't know it's there.
Try an Allen holster if you can. They're dirt cheap. I think you'll really like it. Super soft and no cold kydex when putting it next to your skin.

    cowboywannabe you savvy?

before you spend $75 on a IWB appendix rig, get a $10 Uncle Mikes and try it out. if that is even remotely comfortable for you the higher dollar version will be good as well. however you must get one with a slide shield, body guard/sweat guard....
  16. I have the raven vg2 with belt loop to try it out.
  17. I had the same issue when I first got my Vanguard. I just adjusted it for the gun to ride a little higher off the belt line ( which I prefer anyway for a better purchase) and have not had any issues sense.
  18. I add a pad to my JMCKs to tip the muzzle out and tuck the grip in. It's comfortable and the gun is pointed in a safe direction at all times.

  19. ^ That looks like a good idea. What exactly is that pad?
  20. I'm more interested in what gang affiliation he has with k7?
    Lmao j/j

These are very comfortable when sitting plus no clips and you can wear with sweatpants etc. No need to take your gun off in the bathroom, just push it up a bit. Only downside is the top of the gun sticks out above the waist line too much for me, but its easier to draw that way.
