If I return from standby, my internet is slow. Got any ideas? So far the only cure is to restart.

Do you leave your browser open?

+1. One of the things I like to do before standby is to close memory hogs like IE or Firefox and any Microsoft Office programs (Word, etc.). I'll keep low memory programs open.

So your saying I should shut any programs or Browsers down before standby?
Kinda defeats the purpose of standby. I also noticed it only does it on battery power, and not when plugged in.

Check the Windows power settings as well as the settings for the NIC, I seem to recall a setting that will allow Windows to conserve power by shutting it (the NIC) off.
