so, where does one get aluminum powder...?
So these are about $3.50-$4 apiece according to his price on the cold packs plus aluminum powder and tax/shipping. You can order the pre made targets from tannerite for about $4 each. This would be useful if you wanted some in a hurry, but I think I'd just buy some.
You can buy it on Ebay, of course.
The last time I was at Gander Mountain they had multi packs of Tannerite on the shelf.
Exactly. By the time you're done horsing around with making your own from the cold packs, you could have just ordered some tanerite targets.
They're a complete waste of money in either case.
This reminds me of my childhood friend Jimmy who burned himself severely mixing chemicals from his chemistry set, but most grown ups know better, right?
These produce powerful explosions, a blast to play with, I'm sure. I live adjacent BLM land where shooters gather to blow off tannerite every day. They're real ground shakers. I imagine the multiple container blasts could blow the hell out of a car or truck, or even a house.
Just my opinon, but its only a matter of time before these types of explosives get into the wrong hands.
Great, now how long before instant cold packs are banned?
No ban, just switch from nitrate to chloride
Just like firearms, right?
United nuclear....great website for this and many other fun to play with items
BTW they also carry ammonium nitrate, just buy them both there. Both safe separately, carry to the range, mix on site and shoot.
$13/.5lb of ammonium nitrate? That's crazy.
If you could get the aluminum powder at Walmart this would make sense. If you have to order it online, this makes zero sense.
Aluma-Seal, a radiator stop-leak, is aluminum powder
What are the laws with tannerite possesion or use on BLM land...anyone know? I want to go play with some but don't need to get arrested doing so. I guess if you do it right the evidence disapeers...
Take a grinder to some (empty) beer cans. Reduce, reuse, recycle.
Like the crazy Norwegians?
If I was to go through that much trouble, i'd just make some thermite instead. Not as much fun to shoot, but much more fun to play with.
Or Timmy mcveigh?
