Glock 23 with a Storm Lake 357Sig conversion barrel in it. Had two boxes of Buffalo Bore 125gr Gold Dots. Fired a total of 25 rounds through the chrono, about 8 of which were Cor Bon 125gr JHP's.

The BB loads were clocking around 1500fps!!! :wow: Lowest was like 1485fps and highest was 1530'ish, most coming in at just about 1500fps. Thinking the chrono might be askew I checked the Cor Bon and they were just over 1400fps average (low of like 1380 and high of 1425 or so). I was so shocked that I didn't write all the velocities down but these are all in the ballpark of what I saw.

I knew BB loads were hot but 1500fps? Yeah baby!

Gonna need it 'cause these are the 6 petal "over-penetrators" (from another thread). :whistling:

    That's gotta be a fire breather. I can't get that w/ full 357mags in a 4" rev.

Honestly it doesn't recoil as much as my Glock 36 with 230gr HST +P's. It's stout, have no doubt, but I've shot worse.

I thought maybe it was that particular box was hot(er), and tried a few from the other box. Nope, all in the same ballpark. Now, it could've been that lot......:dunno:

.357 Sig is already a high high pressure round. Would love to know what pressures these BB are generating.

I've read that the .357sig round can be loaded to quite a bit more pressure than what is currently standard.

And on top of that the experienced reloaders around here have some good comments about specific bullets to use with high velocity rounds. Lately my interest has been in learning about this and from what I can tell you're better off with a somewhat lower velocity that's matched with just the right bullet for that velocity than having a bullet mismatch with the higher velocity.

Cool beans. I get an average of about 1530 fps with an LWD 357 barrel in my G-35. And that's with a 5.49 inch tube! Sounds like an awesome carry round ya' got there.

Ironically it *may* be the Cor Bon JHP's at 100fps slower that are the better self-defense round. Cor Bon's Sierra JHP will fragment at the 1400fps velocites I got. That would serve to best simulate the vaunted 125gr .357 Magnum SJHP of old. They fragmented too and we all have heard of their legendary "stopping power" (I hate to use that term).

The BB loads use the 6 petal Gold Dot bullet, which has been labeled as an "over-penetrator" by some (per some other threads here). My fear is that the BB loads would basically become 1500fps FMJ's and zing right through a bad guy. That said, it would no doubt be a good load to carry in the woods when possibly facing wild boar or black bear.

Not always. The Federal & Rem. held up well. The Federal 125 gr. .357 Mag. was a real rip snortin`, dragon`s breath, fire breather in its time. I carried that load.

If you had to carry a 357Sig for personal defense, what round would you choose and why?

I like Corbon & their 125 gr. DPX would be my first choice as in their FBI 4 layer denim test it went 16`` & mushroomed to 0.070``.

Normally, I would not recommend a ctg. unless there was a huge database of real world results. However, the DPX simply smokes everything else in every test I`ve seen or read of by reliable sources and always functions.

They look like Gold Dots to me. Wasn't it Double Tap who was using the Montana's?

Anyone chrono these BB rounds out of a G33?
