Are the buses safe? The people I see get on the buses do not make me think good things. It's not just that they are black mostly, but the way they are dressed, hold themselves, and act. I do not wish to be around them for fear of my safety or my belongings.

Is this uncalled for, am I being paranoid?

    I'm used to rural WI.

How can so many people carry themselves with such little respect towards themselves and others?

ETA culture shock may be an understatement.

There are historical problems on the mass transit systems here so your 'culture shock' is not misplaced. You are in a difficult part of the US right now and should govern yourself accordingly.

seat to front of the buss or buy a bike or car. You have no needs to be overly concern just becasue they are black or not.

It's not because they are black. It's the way the people carry themselves. Also seeing the homeless people waiting at the bus stops isn't very appealing.
