    Greetings!

I have never posted in the HK section and have never owned an H&K pistol of any sort. However, I have handled many and always wanted one but the high prices kept me away.

I noticed that Summit (whom I have bought Glocks and SIGs from in the past) have some really nice looking used USP 40 fulsize guns for sale.

    http://www.summitgunbroker.com/USP_40.html

For 475 bucks, you get a USP 40 with night sights and 2 13rd mags.

Is this a decent deal? It sure seems so.

Anyone own a fullsize USP 40? How does it shoot?

I currently own a Glock 22 and XD-40 and am very used to the 40SW round and I still like the G22 and even like the XD-40 but have no real working experience with the full size USP 40.

This will be a car/home defense pistol...not carried on my person, so the big size of the USP is not a problem. I currently use my G22 for this role and it has never let me down.

These seem like very well made pistols and it seems that HK designed the USP around the 40 round, so it should be up to lots of shooting.

Any opinons or comments would be appreciated...I am tempted to pick up the USP 40.

    Thanks!

That is a great price on that gun.

I ordered a Sig P226 from Bud's or I would have bought one of those from SGB.

    I like 'em.

    $475 for a USP .40 with 2, 13rd magazines?

    Jump on it!!!

I have had my USP .40 since 1997. It has been flawless. Hot, cold, rain, snow, and even extremely dirty, my USP has always worked.

It is a very accurate pistol. Recoil is not bad at all. I have gone thru many 500rd range sessions and my hand did not bother me. Mine shoots best with 180 grain loads, but it still very accurate with any .40 ammo. I am up 20, 13rd magazines. You can't have to many magazines.

My USP goes very well with my Uzi.

I like mine. Reliable, accurate, and soft shooting for a .40S&W. :)

There is one thing about the USP that I don't like.

    The rail.

You can only use a HK UTL light on it. I know there are adapters for the USP rails, I just have never bought one.

I had one for about a year, nice gun. I prefer it to the Glock 22, but the XD .40 is a very good gun.
I like the way the USP handles the .40's recoil, it seemed to whip back into sight alignment faster than most pistols. Accuracy was good, but not as stellar as the USP .45.

Insight makes the H&K UTL and also market their own brand for H&K's. It can be had for substantially less than the H&K branded one. You could also do what I did, pick up a used police trade-in H&K with the UTL, remove the UTL and sell the gun.

I held a used USP .40 at my LGS today...dammit, now I need one! Nice ergonomics and a good, balanced feel for a polymer pistol.

I think 450$ is a fair price for a well used USP 40.

+1 in recommendation. I love mine. Very accurate, reliable and downright bad ***** pistola. I use mine in a similar capacity as the OP. Nothing but praise for HK and the USP series.

I traded a Glock 27 for a full-sized USP-40 a year or so ago and I'm pretty pleased with it. The grip angle is a little different, but it doesn't take much to get used to it.

Overall I like my Glocks, but I can shoot the USP more accurately.

Umm thats about as good a deal on a used USP you will ever find brother. I bought one for the same reason a few years ago and its one of the best purchases I ever made. The USP chews up anything you will feed through it.

Great pistol. Was my second HK. Love it and it is in my ccw/bedstand rotation. Very accurate and reliable pistol. Get in the HK game man...you won't regret it.
