I got in on the deal over Black Friday, and was finally able today to go sight the stuff in.

I've got four Aimpoints, so I was VERY hesitant to buy what I would normally consider "junk". I mean, I've read good things about both, so I guess "junk" isn't fair...but, you know -- just not "milspec" stuff. I'm a member of the buy once, cry once club, but for the money, the deal Primary Arms was offerring was too good to pass up.

The 3x magnifier is the "long relief" version in a nice American Defense flip-to-side mount.

Here's what my MOE 15-22 looks like w/ the goddies installed:

All the shots were rapid except for the upper right. These were done at 50 yards.

Not much else to say once you look at the targets. The optics worked great and I'm very, VERY shocked at how happy I am with both items. Ammo was 550 bulk Remington. I then ran a few Remington subsonics through via rapid-fire on the 5 o'clock beaver.

I'm curious now, as I'm kinda hooked on the Primary Arms magnifier. I'm really wondering if the Aimpoint could be that much better? I've got several rifles that could benefit from a 3x. What to do...what to do...?

Been very happy with my vortex and PA stuff as well. Last I checked, the 3x magnifyers were out of stock. :(

Good looking rifle, sir. By the appearance of your targets, that setup seems to be serving you well!

I picked up one of the 3x magnifiers to go with my Aimpoint M2 on PA's Cyber Monday sale, and I'm quite impressed with it. The glass is clear enough for my uses, eye relief is decent, and the dot centers nicely even though the magnifier mount is shorter than my LT Aimpoint mount.

I'll finally get it to the range this week, so I'll see if I can get some photos to add to this thread.

Everything I've tried from Primary has been good and reasonably priced. Their Micro Red Dot is excllent in my opinion.

I have the Primary Arms X3 and Red Dot, it is great for the price!

I've got the Primary Arms 3x compact riflescope with illuminated BDC reticle, quality is superb and was super easy to zero right out of the box. Crisp and clear glass too.

My son was looking at the combo (Vortex Strikefire and the Primary Arms magnifier) on the PA website w/free shipping for $169. Looks like a great deal. However we recently went to a gun show and one of the dealers had them and many other similar sights to look at.

Comparing them side by side with various off brand versions I could find no difference what so ever between them. They are identical.

We know that the Vortex Strikefire and PA are Chinese made. No disrespect to PA (they are a good company to deal with) but aren't they (and lots of others like AIM Sports, NcStar, Barska, BSA) just selling the same stuff with their own labels on them?

  8. The PA optics are largely made by Burris. Most optics are like most things these days, where components are made by a few select companies and assembled under contract for a company label.

I prefer to buy US made/non Union when possible, but when every choice is made overseas, I then go with value like warranties, company service, etc.

Have any of you guys played with a PA 3x AND an Aimpoint magnifier side-by-side?

I'm truely wondering if the Aimpoint would be worth purchasing, as I think they'd come in handy on my other rifles.

None of our products are make by Burris! We currently contract directly with several different factories to produce our products and will be adding more next year to keep up with demand. I get pounded daily about being out of stock. If all the factories make the same product we would just order from other factories and clean up. They don't.

There are numerous optics factories in China. I have visited most of them and the quality varies greatly. There were several threads here and on other forums a while back showing the difference in construction. Component and switch quality is one example. We also specify many upgrades and with our newer products are involved in the complete design. Our new 4-14X front focal plane scope is a good example. Find a scope from the other factories you mention that tracks accurately and will pass a box test. With Vortex you get night vision compatibility, auto shutoff and a lifetime warranty. We are proud to be a Vortex factory direct dealer. Like us they understand optics and how they are used.

I just got my Strikefire back from Vortex today. It stopped working one day. I used at the range and it was fine. I checked it after I cleaned the rifle and it was fine. Took it out of the safe a couple weeks later and it was dead. I sent it to Vortex and they told me that it was indeed dead (didn't mention how or why), and that a replacement was on the way. I'd had it for over a year with no problems up until then. We'll see how the new one does.

  13. LOL! Are you implying that you work at Primary Arms? Really? Okay, but you think I pulled that tidbit out my butt? I was told your stuff was made by Burris by your Customer Service Sales guy!

Maybe you need to educate your staff, Bro (or Sis, as applicable)!

Marshall just works at Primary Arms every now and then, he wouldn't know that much...

    :whistling:

He's the owner/CEO. Guess you missed his signature block.

  15. Okay, Marsh... so looking at your profile, you own PA. Good on ya. But I spent 20 minutes on the phone with one of your sales guy and he was the one who told me Burris made most of your optics. Whatever, I don't care. The dude was a pleasant guy and did help me select a magnifier, and I'm planning on ordering one of your 3X magnifiers to run with my Vertex Red/Green dots when the extended eye relief models come in.

We did have to add several seasonal employees to keep up. A few have already been booted for BS answers.

That would be the one. Did some shooting at 200 and 300 today with that behind my Comp M2 on my SBR. It's not perfect(mainly clarity), but for $77 shipped I am not even close to complaining.

I'm gonna do up a thread on it some time this weekend with photos.

  18. Plank,

I use the mobile app for this forum on an iPad. I don't see signature blocks. If I want to see a profile, I need to click on it and pull it up separately.

Seeing a company taking its customer service seriously is always a good thing.
