If they beat a team from Canada, I can see the chant making sense. But why are they chanting USA, USA, USA to celebrate a win over another team from the same state?

It may not be racist, but it is redundant at best.

Given that the high school they were playing was predominantly hispanic, I think the prevailing view is that the "USA! USA!" chant from the predominantly white school was an attempt to mock the hispanic team and imply that they somehow weren't really American.

Why is the Hispanic coach and team "on pins and needles wondering what's going to happen"?

You would have a hard time convincing me that it meant anything else.

  5. For one to conclude that the "U-S-A!" chanting was likely prompted by the opposing team being comprised of Hispanic students then one must associate being Hispanic with being un-American.

How many predominately hispanic schools chant about "la raza" and "viva a mexico"?

I don't see any problem with American kids chanting "U.S.A." If it offends anyone maybe they need to re-evaluate their priorities.

"Alamo Heights Independent School District Kevin Brown apologized to SAISD officials for the incident, and said some of the students who participated in the chant were Hispanic themselves."

It is good to be proud of your country. I don't care who/what you are.

Hispanics should cheer for this country. They are not being killed right and left here.

Real simple about the old U.S.A., if you do not like what is in this country and the opportunity to work at a better life then by all means find somewhere else that wants you.
