It's believed to be a computer glitch, but you can bet your Wheaties some people probably had a mild coronary event when they saw that.

I am hoping to get a good job in the loan department of my local gas station.

If gas were $10 a gallon, that would probably be about the time I would finally park my F-150 for good.

You know I never noticed it before. Gas station signs don't even have the space to go up that high. I hope it stay that way, and there is no need.

    yeah....'puter glitch!!!

BTW, it is "down" to 3.23 here.......it's sure as hell slow to come down. It will go UP 10 cents over night but that 10 cents takes 2 weeks to go down.

I think our governor put some kind of hold on gas prices this year some how...IDK but I heard it on the radio. It's at 3.24 to 3.32 ish now. Good times.

News did a story this morning on it around here. With barrels of oil being $80, gas should be around $2.79 now, but they think they are making up for lost revenue from a few weeks ago.

I had a friend that was a manager at a local Speedway and she used to tell me all the time when Speedway was gouging customers. On a normal day they make around $.05-.10/gallon in however the profit is figured, but there would be days they would mark it up so they could pull in .$40-50 more and run that for a day or two.

A nickel and dime don't seem like much of a profit per gallon, so I don't know what all was taken into account. Maybe it is, depending on how many people come through an hour?

Hey! Think of the jobs that could be created to replace all of the gas station signs if gas was over 10.00 a gallon.

Some stations sell several thousand gallons a day. If they can tack on an extra 40 cents for a few days that's 400 bucks a thousand extra.

I'm old enough to remember when pumps couldn't go over 99.9 CENTS a gallon. Stations tried setting them at "price per half gallon" until the fair trade people killed that off. Finally someone came up with adhesive tape to put around the cents dial and the pump could go to 9.99/gallon (on 9/10ths).

I wonder if the signs default to 9.99 or 0.00?
