I've been doing a lot of research (About 6 months) on Ed Brown. Specifically their Special Forces family of 1911's. I've been wanting one (SF Carry) for a while. However, with some of the irons I have in the fire the disposable cash just wasn't there.

Anyway, I decided to take a trip down to Cabela's in Hamburg PA. I know they stock higher end 1911's, Wilson, Baer, Brown, Christensen…

Prior to leaving, I told myself…

"If they have the SF Carry with the Gen III coating, I'm buying it"

I walked in the front door, made a B line to the "Special" gun section (Leaving the wife and kids in my dust) and…BAM!!!

    Ed Brown
    Special Forces Carry
    Gen III Finish

I will be going to the range tomorrow to run at least 500 through it. One other thing I told myself…

"If they have this 1911 and I get this 1911, I'm going to stick to the 1911 and ditch all other guns."

Well, I've got it. I'll be ordering the other 2 SF members. I'll be converting over to the 1911 and sticking with it. I've been tossing this idea around a lot for a while now. Now the decision has been solidified.

Sorry for the crap pictures. It's late and I'm tired.

Wise choice indeed :) Nothing wrong with going all 1911 at all. Brown makes a great gun IMO. Congrats.

Why limit yourself to one platform? Is it because you can't have the 1911's without selling your other guns or do you just want to only shoot 1911's?

I only want to shoot 1911's.

I wanted to add this edit…

Pretty much, I'm a simple kind of person, KISS, if you will. When I pick up a gun, no matter the reason, I want my first instinct to be…Make weapon ready…NOT…Oh ****, which frickin gun did I grab at 0 dark 30.

    1911
    Glock
    P7M*
    Sig
    Revolver

I'm proficient with all the handguns I own. I shoot them all equally well. The rounds go where I tell them to and very rarely do I have any problems with them doing what they're told. However, for me, it makes my life easier when I know that ALL of my guns operate in the same fashion. Pick gun up/Draw gun, make weapon ready, shoot. Always the same action, always the same answer.

I agree it's the same reason I went all 1911ish, keeps the manual of arms the same for my simplton mind :) Having holster, mag and ammo compatibility is also nice.

    Very nice.

I bought my Kobra Carry from that Cabelas years ago.

  9. Very nice!

Congrats and I think your decision to streamline makes a lot of sense as well.

That's a pretty gun. I'm partial to 1911s myself. After 29 years of carrying the same 1911, I went to Glock because it is so much lighter. My 1911 is now at GPI Gun Works getting a makeover for its 30th birthday.

One question about your new gun. What is the purpose of having the grip cut away like that at the bottom?

I decided to streamline my MOA as well. I do have and carry an H&K 45c in addition to my 1911s.

I could be wrong but I think mainly it's for ease of carry. Prints less like that. And I think Alot of people find it more comfortable to shoot as well.
