My friend needed some cash to fund a Mossberg he wanted to buy, so he sold me his Taurus 851 Ultralite .38 Special for $150.

It's my entry into the revolver world. I've had eight pistols, currently have five, but they're all autos (Beretta 92FS, Glock's 19, 21, and 35, and SA 1911). I've been toying with getting a sub-compact 9mm (Kel-Tec/Kahr) to replace my Glock 19 as daily carry, but I think this will fill my need nicely.

I was actually at the gun shop when my friend bought it, three-ish years ago, and at the range when he first shot it. I've shot the gun several rounds during are many range dates.

I've been comparing self defense ammo online for .38 Special +P. I think I'll get Hornady's Critical Defense, Speer's Gold Dot, or Federal's HydraShok. I'll have to see what my shop has.

Also, I'm a lefty, so I'm practicing unloading and loading left-handed and right. I've tried HKS speedloaders, but I think I'll get Safariland's to try too.

Lastly, I'm planning on pocket carrying the snubbie. It's definitely lighter than my Glock 19, or anything else I have actually. Kind of weird going from carrying 31rds daily to 15rds (if I carry two speedloaders).

    EDIT: Forgot a picture:

Looks good. I have had good luck with Taurus Revolvers. Carry it as a back up and you will have plenty of ammo.

I'm delayed here, but thanks for the response. I'm lovin' the little revolver.
