Does anyone know anything about an old Iver Johnson revolver Model 55? It's an 8 shot .22.

    The serial # is C27780

It was my Grandpa's. I've shot it but he old girl is pretty worn. It has funky plastic grips. Are they original?

It's the bottom gun in these pics. I can take better pics if needed.

    Thanks!

looks like originals to me. I haven't seen too many of that model around here .

she doesn't look too worn to me. They are a lot of fun. I need to take a couple new pictures of some of my old girls to post.

    countrygun, it's worn

    The lock up is poor...

When he died, my Grandma gave it to my Uncle, when he died unexpected/early my Aunt gave it to me. I don't know a thing about it.

I've had only one revolver most of my adult life (top gun in pic) and am just learning about them which has me curious about his one. I've actually had it for several years.

Ah, pity it's internally worn They were great little guns

They didn't get the credit they deserved in their day because they didn't have the most popular features, but the need to rapidly reload a .22 with that capacity is more a matter of convenience that "need".

Here's a shot of my Iver Johnson "Trailsman 66". It's in excellent shape for an oldie!

According to the Gun Traders Guide, that model was made from 1955 to ‘77. Since your gun does not have a hinged loading gate, it was made before 1961.
