tama kailangan ko din inyong secret recipe for a .40 major load using 3N37 powder naman dahil ito ang marami ko using plated heads (200?) of stronghand.

im preparing for the Bolo Tuason cup using a .40 Armscor Hi-Cap:shocked: if ever na ipapahiram talaga ng father ko sa akin:cool:

  4. Check one this out before testing any home brews or concoctions:

    www.vihtavuori-lapua.com

Just ensure that your loads do not go beyond the maximim powder loads specified in Vihtavouri's reloading data.

Stay safe and enjoy your new hobby.

hindi kaya masyadong malakas ung nasa reloading guide ng www.vihtavuori-lapua.com?

    recommendation nya 4.7gr-VVn340 on a 200gr head.. and 5.5gr-VVn340 sa 180gr head.

baka tumalon na nito mga pistolas natin:supergrin:

hindi naman, hehehe.... mag start ka siguro with less 0.2grs dun sa recommended starting load.

yung binigay ni paul na load sa n320 is already proven!

  10. Bosing Jo,
how about the cal. 45 practice/competetion proven loads that you uses in your NorKim, pwede pahingi din ng ingredients noon if possible? :)

  11. Our gun club in the province had a powder dispenser which was used by almost all members who were rolling their own ammo.

The armorer was fed up with constant adjustments and tweakings being made on it that he permanently set it to throw only 4.0 grs. if you use VV 320.

Surprisingly, almost all 9mm, 40 and 45 reloaders continued to use the powder dispenser despite being limited to 4.0 grs. if you use VV 320.

This continued for quite awhile until our club was able to acquire a Dillon 550.

Shows you how versatile the VV 320 4.0 grs. loading is.

  12. hi bosing Django,
do you use the same (vv320/4grs) in your commander cal.45?
what type of bullet head you are using & what's the OAL size bosing if you don't mind? ;)
don't you have any FTF's/FTE's using the said load?

BTW, ano nga pala poundage ng recoil & hammer spring noong commander mo bosing if you don't mind me asking?
mine i think is 18# for recoil spring & 22# for hammer spring. not sure though 'coz i haven't had it gauge yet.

  13. Hi Mikol,

Let me try to answer your queries one by one:

    1. I favor 4.0 grs. of VV 310 behind a Stronghand 200 grs. LSWC (H&G configuration) head with an OAL of 1.240 for both my commander and standard .45's. Factors at around 175.

    2. No experience of FTE/FTF so far with this load.

    3. Recoil spring for commander is 18 lbs. while for the standard model, it's 16 lbs.

    4. I really do not know what the weight of the hammer springs of my guns are. They came with the guns when I bought them.

    5. As for my friends in the province who used 4.0 grs. of VV 320 in their .45's, they just upped their heads to 230 grs. and continued shooting with no FTFs/FTEs. Of course they used this load for casual plinking only and I am sure it will never make major in any chronograph.

    :)

  14. hi Django,

well i think this one is worth trying for the next time i'll be back in the country.
the ones i used are factory loads from Shooters(copper plated round nose).
tried to ask the sales rep. in SAM's store about the load specs. & all got is nothing but "this is what the shooters always buy for competition" answer.
thanks again bosing for the info. :)

mikol, i just use the recommended starting load of VV, 4.6grs N310 on 200grs teflon.... hindi pa abot sa major power factor itong charge na 'to on my commander.

  16. bakit bosing Jo, di ba abot sa 850fps ang chrono nitong recipe load nato using your commander boomer?
sino kaya meron nang trusted load recipe (for major PF)ng kanilang commander boomer using 200grs head, pahingi nman mga 'tol o.. ;)

  17. got this recipe in www.handloads.com for 45 ACP, using 200 gr head

    1. SWC 5.5 gr VV N320 1,010 fps 1.24" Vihtavuori
    Suggested starting load: 5.0 gr

    2. FMJ-CT 5.8 gr VV N320 983 fps 1.24" Vihtavuori
    Suggested starting load: 5.2 gr

    3. SWC 7.0 gr VV N340 1,095 fps 1.24" Vihtavuori
    Suggested starting load: 6.3 gr

    4. FMJ-CT 7.1 gr VV N340 1,048 fps 1.24" Vihtavuori
    Suggested starting load: 6.4 gr

    5. FMJ-CT 7.9 gr VV N350 1,057 fps 1.24" Vihtavuori
    Suggested starting load: 7.1 gr

assuming that all this FPS are chrono using 5" barrel, which of the 5 recipes do you guys think will be ideal to experiment using ratio & propotion to be able to make major using commander lenght barrel.(baka lng kasi pwede ;) ;) )

  18. Judge -

Better check your loading data again. Maximum load for VV 310 behind a 200 grs. head is 4.0 grs. per Vihtavuori loading chart.

depends on our OAL. I was using 4.6 Grs of VV 320 with zero TMCs .40 cal at 1.200 OAL.
Currently using 5.3 grains of VV 320 for 180 montana gold bullets at 1.200 OAL.
If your are loading short then it could be a problem. If you are loading long for 2011 and 1911 type pistols it should not be a problem.

  20. 4.6 grs. VV 320 might be a go but 4.6 grs. of VV 310 behind a 200 grs. head? That's a hot one  regardless of the OAL.
