I am thinking about doing one of two things...Which would you do!

    1) Send my Colt Series 70 off to get some work done.

    2) Sell Colt, and use all Cash to buy a Baer or Brown or the Like.

They are both going to come close to the same as total investment, and I am going to more or less have only the resulting 1911 for about a year or so. I still will have some Revolvers, and a Sig 226 and 238 that the wife has claimed. The only pistol I will really be using though will be this 1911.

The work I am having quoted for the Colt:
    Some sort of Novaks
    Carry Bevel
    Lower and Flare Ejection Port
    Refinished in All Black
    Bob the Hammer a little
Not sure what else at this point.
May see about having the rollmarks removed, it it is possible.

Keep the Colt and fix it up to suit your requirements.

Not normally I Colt guy, however, since it is Series 70 I think you would be better off sending the Colt off. You can get it made exactly like you want without the extra hassle.

I suggest looking at this guy for your work you are wanting

He has reasonable pricing, good turn-around time, and does good work. I have a gun that he worked over and I am pleased with it. I picked it up in a trade and it is my EDC.

well, since you asked. you could send sacs a couple a hundred in my name. uh, just a thought. :wavey:
if its an original series 70, i'd think hard about removing the rollmarks. they're very shallow but very distinct. perfect in my opinion. best looking slide markings of all the colts, again imo. wonderful dilemma to have.

If I were sending off to a top smith I would add to your list the Chen magwell and some front strap work as well. Maybe get it fitted for a new barrel and bushing while I'm at it?

The way I see it is that you have about $1K or more to spend on smithing, so I say go big.
