My wife & I want a fun car, a two seater, when the lease is up on our '03 TL-S next year.

    Must haves:
    '06 Model Year
Automatic Transmission (Honda S2000 is out)
    Rear or AWD
    Navigation
    Leather
    HID's
    Under $55K

A convertible would be nice but not a must have.

    We're currently looking at:
    Corvette
    BMW Z4
    Mercedes SLK
    Audi TT
    Porsche Boxter

Pros & Cons & other suggests PLEASE ??????

Make your wife learn how to drive a stick and get his and hers Miata's.

Other than that, Mercedes SLK280. Smooth power delivery, great features, hard top convertible, quiet with the top up and a great looking car.

    AUTOMATIC! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Well, the most fun to drive will be the Porsche.

Mercedes, no way. Junk, drive it and you will see(can you say numb and soft?).

Audi TT, ah....will you be driving it?(it is a womens car plus not reliable, also soft).

BMW, I love BMW (used to sell them), but I hate the Z4. Interior is not up to the price of the car. You feel as if you are riding in the trunk(nose is way to long, does not give you the normal BMW feedback).

Vette, very fast but lack of feedback. You can reach the limit and go flying over it due to lack of feel. Of all these cars, the most likely to be wrapped around a tree.

I say go for the Porsche. Why, great performer, ok reliability, great feedback, and most importantly.........it is the most fun to drive.

BUT WHY NO STICK? The S2000 is a hell of a car and a real value. Plus, these types of cars should only be sticks.

The new SLK350 is quite sporty and the 7-speed slushbox ain't bad if you swing that way. I wouldn't get one just because of the slushbox, but that's just me.

Why this choice and not the others? Because you said the magic word, "the missus". She already wanted automatic transmission so why bother with a Z4 or a Boxster? Sure, BMW and Porsche make slushboxes, but why waste it on a nice sports car. Might as well get one that's designed to take the slushbox yet still sporty.

Convertible hard top is always nice plus they got that weird AIRSCRAF option where the heated air comes out of the headrests to warm your necks.

Or better yet, take that $55K and buy two nice sport touring motorcycles. One for you and one for the missus and be thrilled. I don't even bother with my Z4 any more except to drive it once a month to keep the fluids moving.

I had 1994 Miata with 1.8l and 140HP engine, and that thing was awsome to drive. Getting in and out was problem, but one settled in it was awsome :)

Its a shame you have to get an auto. I feel it takes alot out of the driving experience. I love Porsches, so I'd take the boxter out of the cars you mentioned.
