  1. Hi guys!

I just picked up a PSA Complete Magpul Lower off Armslist for $450. I had planned on piecing one together over time but couldn’t pass on that deal!

The look I am going for is the M&P 15T since that’s what I wanted before the panic (pic below). I’m going to have my shop assemble it for me once I get the rest of the parts.

So, what all do I need? Here’s what I plan on buying so far. Did I miss anything? Anything to look out for? Any recommendations for better stuff?

    DPMS Upper Parts kit (brownells)
    Yankee Hill 16" barrel (brownells)
    bravo company charging handle
troy low profile gas block (brownells)
    some sort of BCG- recommendations?
troy bravo 9" free float quad (brownells)
    magpul mbus sight set
    yankee hill stripped upper
    a2 flash hider (brownells)

Let me know if anyone recommends something better! Did I miss anything? My shop is about 40 minutes away so I want to make sure I have everything they will need!

I will receive my uppernd lower partskit/stocl assembly on Monday, so I will soon ask a similar question.

Let me ask you thism the upper assembly seems fairly straightforward (you just screw the barrel nut to the upper to hold the barrel and thread the gas tube in place) what step of the process made you decide on having a shop build that for you?

BTW, that IS a lot of dinero for a lower even in today's climate.
  3. I priced up all the lower parts i thought i would need from brownells and it was about $450. That is if i would have even been able to get them. I think that lower normally is like $300 so it seemed like a fair deal in this climate. My shop wanted $650 for a complete lmt lower without any magpul parts.

The reason i want my shop to do it is so that i know its done right i guess. Lol. They wanted $125 to assemble the whole thing which seemed pretty fair. It will probably be less now that they dont have to assemble a lower.

  4. Really could use some help here guys. Im thinking I actually want a mid length gas system is that right? Also, the upper parts kits from brownells list different brands- I assume any will work whether the brand is colt, dpms, etc.? Thanks in advance for any help!

On a 16" barrel I'd go with a mid length for sure. The parts you've picked out seem pretty good to go. As far as a BCG I'd call Boise Tactical and get one of theirs for $210 shipped. They're the only place I know at the moment to pick one up....

  7. Cool! Thanks for the help! Do barrels usually have the gas port already drilled? If so, I think ill just go with whatever the barrell I like best has for length. Man, I really like that PSA upper you posted but if I did that, by the time Im all said and done the upper is going to cost me about a grand. With the parts I found last night Im at about 800.
  8. Any reccomendations on barrels? I was planning the cheapo chrome lined one from midway usa for $150. It would probably be more accurate than me regardless but would I be better to get something more expensive? Say a DD, BCM, Voodoo, Rainier, etc?
  9. You basically pay for what you get. Nothing wrong with Yankee hill thoough. The thing you need to decide also is what twist rate you want. This will basically be for the type of bullet you are planning on using most of the time (55 grain vs 75 grain).

If you can afford a better barrel then get a better one.
  10. I would prefer a 1 in 7 twist but will accept 1 in 8 or 1 in 9 if I must. This rifle will be pretty much for range and fun use. I decided to look for something in the sub 250 range. I got my notifications set for the barrels that interest me. I have marked, Voodoo, DD, BCM, Spikes CHF, and YHM. I think I would prefer a Voodoo because I like the idea of the melonite finish.

I think that about does her. Thanks for the help guys!

  11. It's very hard finding quality AR parts right now.
I'm looking for a barrel and bcg right now myself.
This craziness will subside, and things will start being
available again, though it may take a few months.
BCM actually had 16" middy uppers in stock for about 2 hours
last week, they also had some bcg's before that, but sold out
    in less than 2 hours.
Noveske had 18" barrels in stock for a few hours the other day.

I would relax and not rush to buy the first thing I could find, just because it's available.
I would leave a notification with BCM for one of their 16" mid uppers, you just have to be ready to buy as soon as you're notified they are in. Do the same with the BCM bcg
All you need then is a bcg and charging handle, both of which
    can be purchased from Bravo.
Only thing I would differ from yours list is, the sights, I'd go ahead and add a little extra cash and get a set of Troy folding sights, and I'd upgrade the flash hider, Smith Vortex, AAC, or
Wilson. Just my opinions here. Best of luck building yours.

The ports are drilled when you get them.
  13. Thanks for the tips! If I did an upper like that I would probably do a PSA one that ploufe had posted the other day on his FB page. The problem with that is it would cost me an extra 2 or 3 hundred. I did look at the BCM uppers and realized I should go with an 11" Troy Bravo for my handguard.

Ill take a look at the other sights and flash hiders. Thanks again for the tips!

  14. Cool! Thanks again!
