This is going to sound stupid but here goes....
I accidently moved the icon from the dock onto the desktop. POOF, it was gone.
    Application is mozilla.
I cannot find the icon in the application file or anyplace else.
I am sure that I did not erase the program from the system but I want to put it back on the dock.
    Can anybody help.
THere are time I LOVE Mac systems and times I HATE them.
    Thanks

shouldn't be a big deal.. icons in the dock are essentially "shortcuts"...

First, you have to find where the actual program is on your hard drive. Typical place is in the Applications folder. You mentioned you looked there, so you might also look in your home folder. If all else fails, just search for it using spotlight (that blue spy glass icon in the upper-most right corner of your screen).

Once you find the folder it's in, just drag the icon from that folder back to the place in the dock you want the shortcut.

    Should do it.

    Thanks for the reply.
Tried what you said and still no-go.
I can find some of the "add-on" folders for firefox but not the main program icon. Tried application/home folder and then the spotlight ..using firefox as the search name. Still nothing.
Guess I could download it again and just overwrite the old file, wherever it is.
I know it's there someplace....just hiding out and laughing at me.

Check to see where your default download location is. If you use safari:

    Click on Safari
    Choose Preferences
    See: Save Downloaded Files To:

If you were using another browser you can usually do the same thing.
