I need to update my plan before 6/30. I am 99% sold on Android. What is the best "droid" phone available right now. I know the S III is in pre-order status right now. Seems too big for my tastes, so besides the S III, what would you buy?

    I currently have a Droid X since 11/2010.

My carrier is Verizon and to retain my grandfathered unlimited data plan, need to act by 6/30.

    Thanks guys

The Rezound is going for $80 right now. The Nexus is the other hot phone. Or, was 6 mos ago when I was researching. I got the Rezound, the hardware seems to edge out the Nexus by a smidge. The Nexus has ICS out of the box, but the Rez is supposed to get the update OTA within a month. Nex is rooted ootb, Rez is easy to root online. You'll be happy with either.

My wife just bought the Droid RAZR MAXX. That is the hot seller on Verizon right now. She seems to like it so far, but she is not a power user. She upgraded from the HTC incredible.

The RAZR MAXX is a little big for me. I prefer the size of the iphone because I carry mine in my pocket.

galaxy nexus...OS is up to date and it is as of this post the best phone out...the s3 wont be out before the Olympics...if i wanted a phone that truly did it all, the nexus beats everything out there, maybe even the iphone lol...

I tend to take a lot of pictures. Kind of concerned with the 5MP camera on the Nexus

Wife loves the Razr Maxx. 2 day battery, 4G. Large screen makes it easier on the eyes.

The SGSIII is worth it. I like mine.

I am going to get an American model when they hit, i'd rather have the extra gig of ram over the extra two cores.

If the pre-order keeps you in the plan you want, that's the move.

Seems very big from the measurements listed online. My X is big and the S III is almost a half inch taller and 1/4" wider. How are the pictures on your S III?

I upgraded last month to an HTC Vivid. Nice phone, but eats battery life, max 16 hours or so, but beats the old Blackberry 8830 I carried three years.

I also say the Razr Maxx. It is well worth the cost of the normal Razr. I love the battery life and love the phone. I had a bionic and everything is much better!

Going to hit the Verizon store Saturday and hold them all. Still doing research though.

Another thing I like about my Droid is using Easy Tether to allow my laptop access to the internet where there is no WiFi.
