Has gen4 issues been resolved?

Discussion in 'General Glocking' started by Angel King, Jan 16, 2013.

  1. Do you guys feel the gen4's issues have been resolved. From my readings, the RSA problems were after July 2011, but what about the extractor and other problems?

I have yet to encounter any gen 4 problems. I'm sure some exist somewhere, but I have yet to have any or observe any on the range.

Zero issues with any of our gen 4's in the first place.

The thing you need to remember about a dissatisfied customer is that they will tell 10 people when they are unhappy while a happy customer only tells one (Marketing 101). If it was such a huge issue, there either would be a recall or sales would slow. Neither is happening. Hell, I had a NIB Colt Defender that had a BTF issue, but I wasn't silly enough to simply write off Colt for one bad gun. I don't think there is any company that mass produces millions of products that can guarantee each and every product out the door, that's why they have warranties in the first place. It is a commitment to the customer that they will make it right if it isn't up to par.

The first one I boght a month a half ago would not work right from the box. This is after waiting months after trying multiple times to get a new one. It would not work out of the box. Sent it back to Glock and after a few weeks they sent me a new one saying the old gun could not be made to work.
The new one is an all american model with a non-dipped extractor. It has been good for 350 rounds. So it is by no means a done deal. Although you stand a better chance of getting a good one now than when I tried almost a year ago. Glock did have a recall on then by the way over the slearly frame peeling and the RSA changes. Glock simply calls them updates instead of recalls.

  8. Thanks for the replys. I put 200 rounds through it with no problems. It felt like it had less recoil than my gen3, probably due to the very heavy recoil spring.

I agree with Jay, unsattisfied users will gripe, but satisfied customers generally don't post saying how well it works. Human nature I guess.

  9. Well naturally with two springs vs one, it would feel like it has less recoil.

Wow I hate some of the responses here. A Glock should fire correctly regardless of how you hold it. I'd never own a gun where I had to "learn" to fire it correctly.

    Got two, a Gen4 19 and 17. Purchased the 17 when they
first came out. Lots of range time on both units. No issues
    with either model.

Working through my issues with a Gen4 17 now. I have the new ejector in but waiting on the RSA. Call it griping or whatever but many at our department are having issues/being fixed and the neighboring department is having issues with their 21's. Be that as it may everyone I've spoken with say they are corrected and happy with them once the ejector and RSA gets switched.

  17. Not sure and maybe someone can say, but if the RSA of the gen4 9mm and .40's are the same, I can see how the 9mm's are having problems. You'll need hot and heavy loads for reliability. .40 should have less issues.

Issues were resolved with mine on the first day I got it almost two and one half years ago. Not one single problem with my Gen4 Glock22. I did upgrade the RSA since Glock did it for free.

I agree with you completely. Just as many uniformed and/or inexperienced supporters out there. One I know of specifically ran great for 1200 rounds and now sprays brass everywhere (including the shooters face). 'Course this twenty-year-Glock shooter hasn't learned how to shoot his Gen4 - oops, I mean forgot how to after 1200 rounds.
