I spent Veteran's Day with a group of my NJROTC cadets. We placed over 1000 flags at the headstones of mostly WWI and WWII vets in a somewhat neglected cemetery near the west side of Detroit. These are good youngsters, but even some of them were surprised at their results when they looked across a previously barren landscape (in-groud headstones) and then saw a sea of red-white-blue waving in the breeze. Many said "I never knew there were so many" to which I told them that this is just a tiny fraction.

What a great way to spend the day, despite the drizzle and cold.
