Is there a legal barrel length size for hunting with a handgun in Texas?

Not that I am aware of.
As long as the caliber is not a 22 Short, LR or Mag.
It must be a centerfire cartridge.

There are no restrictions on barrel length. There are no restrictions on caliber. But you can't use rimfire ammo on alligator, deer, antelope, or desert bighorn sheep.

(Bird hunting has its own rules, of course.)

Meant to say that Rimfire is only allowed on certain game/varmint animals.
