Is it legal for a company not involved in the security business to own guns? I mean for example, a company, because of the nature of its business, wants to arm some of its trusted employees inside the confines of company premises. What are the legalities involved here.

Not sure on legalities, but 6 yrs ago on my previous employer, our manager issued Armscor 38's to loyal employees who dont want any part to the planning of a strike.
Chief Security was also able to issue PTT to all.
    Sayang hindi ako nabigyan.

afaik, There are pistols/revolvers inside branch bank vaults for the use of the manager but licensed in the name of said bank. When I was working in a bank, A co-employee bought the revolver from our branch manager who had option to purchase said pistol when he retired.

  4. Domestic corporations can apply for and be issued FA licenses.

Long Regular License - license issued to private firms to be issued and used by their employees

Short Regular License - license issued to a private employee by his employer for a FA covered by an LRL issued to the private firm

This used to be a popular method in the mid 70's and early 80's. Logging and banana concessionaires in Mindanao issued FA's to their employees who were subjected to extortion and kidnap/death threats from brigands, rebels, etc.

Please see also the Filipino Firearms Forum of Horge which is replete with all the relevant info on legal jurisprudence regarding FA's in the Philippine setting.
  5. Don't know about you, but my secretary and I have gun battles all the time.

  8. good day sir. im a long time reader of BOGs but i rarely join your discussions. i write (now) coz i would like to know more about the LRL and SRL. where can i read or inquire more about this?

a very good friend of mine is an expat of a multinational company that has a huge farm in mindanao. hes interested to own an FA but he was told foreigners cant own one. do the LRL and SRL allow foreigners to carry guns (or issued to them) at their farm? my friend has police escorts and a pick up full of security guards whenever he goes to the field. he said he feels more safe if he has an FA with him. he has an FA in his country.

    thanks in advance.
