I really liked the Kimber Custom II I just got in a trade but, it was just to long and heavy for me. I wanted a 1911 to carry. I tried carrying the Kimber for 1 day and it was a no go. I was at walmart trying to pay for my stuff, well the problem was the barrel of the Kimber was stuck in my back pocket and I couldn't get my wallet out. :embarassed: So I listed it and ended up trading for this Springfield Armory micro compact with 2 mags and $250 cash. He said he bought it new in 2002 and its been in the safe most of its life.. I took it out when I got home and shoot 100 rounds through it without the first hiccup.

Sounds like you were able to get your wallet out to complete the trade. Good looking SA, congratulations and enjoy.

    Congrats!

I'm not one for small 1911s though.

Kimber is just another typical American made firearm. I know, I've owned two and had to get ride of them both. Over rated, expensive and unreliable. If Kimber would put as much money into there guns as they do with there advertiseing they would have one hell of a firearm!

Way to hijack the thread. The OP sold it because it was too big for him to carry, not because it was unreliable.

I've owned seven Kimbers, all have been outstanding.
    Maybe it's just you.

Gotta disagree with this as well. Go back to discussing Glocks,
leave the 1911s to us big boys.

I really hope that gun works well for you, I had one and it was by far the worst, least reliable gun I have ever shot. Ruined me on smaller 1911s.

If you do have issues though Springfield customer svc is great!

I've never had a single malfunction with my Kimber either.

At any rate OP, glad you found something that fit you better size-wise.

And I have had nothing but trouble with the Kimbers. Finally wised up and got a 3" STI. Love it, not one problem after 500 rds. The Kimbers malfunctioned about every 5-10 rds. with all different types of ammo including hand loads. My opinion...

While we are at it, in which pocket do you keep your keys and/or clip your knife?
