I have owned and shot many guns over the years except a good 1911 and I always wondered what was so special about these things that warrant such a huge following. I mean it's heavy, holds only 8 rounds, complicated takedown, etc., etc...well, I finally get it!

I recently traded two good guns to get a new stainless Mil Spec Springfield 1911. I lost big time in the trade but I was borred of the other two guns and this shiny 1911 was there in the display, I held it, racked the slide, lined up the sights and said I'll take it! It was an impulsive trade but after my first range session with it I'm extremely satisfied. I shot it in the pouring rain today for the first time and I loved every minute of it. My first mag full blew out the x-ring and I spent the rest of my ammo on the bowling pins and hanging metal plates. It seemed like I couldn't miss...all I could think was that this thing rocks!

Now I understand why the 1911 has such a huge following!

I too just bought my first 1911 and wished I had done it a long time ago.

    That's usually how it goes.

Glock is awesome but it just doesn't reach home like a good 1911 does.

Welcome to the fever. I've gotten bit about 6 months ago and this is a much better gun than my Glocks. It feels so much better than either of my 2. Now I've got to buy the wife her 1911 before I can get my next one. (never should have let her shoot my TRP or I'd have one now.)

  11. congrats on your first 1911, welcome to the darker side but dont sell your Glock.

Go ahead, shoot for a while, and you will come to hate it. Here's why I HATE my brother's 1911:
It hits what I point it at. It makes me look like I know how to shoot. It makes big holes in targets. No matter how long it's been since I shot it, it's like I never stopped. It makes hits at 25-yards as easily as my Glock does at 50-feet. It makes me want to part with money and get one of my own! :wow:

Good on ya! Enjoy the Springer, but I doubt it will be your only 1911 for long...

Welcome young Padawan. The Force is now with you.

All kidding aside, you will be looking for another one now, then another, and another. 1911s are kind of like Lays potato chips - Nobody can have just one. Right Bac?

Yeah, its time for an updated 1911 family pic in the wood chips.

Those family pics are a PITA to arrange.

I'm going to wait a while, as I've got another couple more on the way.

Yup. There's not much better than pressing the trigger on a 40 ounce 1911 for enjoyment. :)
