Hello, I found my way here by accident while researching the gen 4 G26. My story starts with Wisconsin recently passing the concealed carry law and me getting my license. I bought a brand new Ruger LC9 because i've owned numerous Rugers over the years and liked it's very compact size. I started having problems with it failing to eject rounds after shooting a few mags through it. I took it back to my dealer and had it sent in to Ruger. I didn't care for the trigger pull anyway(way too long) so I traded it in on a brand new SR9C. It didn't even feel like they were built by the same company! Much better trigger, significantly less muzzle lift, I found my new favorite. After firing approx 300 rounds through it the trigger quit returning to the ready position after every shot. I would have to rack the slide every round to get it to return. It too went back to Ruger for repair. I got it back, it fired flawless again but I just didn't trust the brand anymore. Two in a row is just too much to swallow especially with something I might need to save my life someday. I have been researching quite a bit for my next 9mm. I'm carrying an LCR .38 I bought used before I had all my Ruger woes for now. After reading some of the issues with the Gen 4 Glocks i'm thinking i'm going to go for an older Gen 26 or another brand of 9mm at this point. Is there a certain gen I should get over the others? The main thing for me is reliability at this point. I don't want another problem child.

No problems with Gen4G26 that I've read. I'd go Gen4 but go try them out and see what feels better. I have over 1000rds through each of my Gen4 G26/G27/G33(357Sig Barrel). Nobody does subcompact like Glock IMO.

BTW Congrats on Wisconsin CCW and welcome to GT.

I recently purchased a gen 3 26 and have about 450 rounds through it with zero failures. I must say it is a little frightening reading some of the threads but so far no issues here. I did take my wife shooting for her first time and she had 3 rounds in a row eject and land right on her head. I told her to watch the ejections when I shot right after this happened to her and she said that all ejections were fine. Clear and to the right. So take it for what it's worth. Just thought I would give you my experience with my g26. It is my EDC and so far I love it. Can't wait to buy more glocks.

Get a Gen4 that has this ejector:

All 9/40/357 Gen4's with a test-fire date after 10/10/2011 will have this ejector already installed.

Any Glock will be better the your past Rugers :)

I was the same kinda....Owned Glocks before got a Taurus Slim to CCW and brand new had a break in the mag release so it got sent back to Taurus and I just couldn't do it. The trigger pull sucked too!

So sold it and bought Glock 19 gen 3 cause all the gen 4's where sold out and I couldn't wait to own a Glock again

Glock is an excellent choice. You might want to think about what your needs are and will be. CC or plinking? 9mm is an excellent caliber and maybe someday Gaston will give us a Thin, single stack 9mm. Until then we have a Full sized 9 (17), Compact 9 (19) and Sub-Compact 9 (26). I have all 3. Had I know way back when, what I know now, I would only have purchased the 26 version with the .22 conversion kit. Bite the bullet and go for a brand new, never owned Gen 3, 26. You will be much happer later on.

Zero issues with G26 Gen4. It has the older ejector, but it works like a champ, and is a pretty accurate shooter for me.

Get a gen 4. I have a gen 4 19 wih the new ejector and my father has the gen 4 26 with the old ejector. My 19 has 1,911 rounds down the pipe so far, without a single hiccup of any kind. Simply flawless.

My fathers 26 has around 500 rounds through it, and although it doesn't have many down the pipe, the ejection is very consisten which leads me to believe there will be no issues with his either.

The bugs have been worked out, get a gen 4.

Thanks for the quick replies everybody! I'm heading over to my local gun dealer right now to talk about a gen 3 or post 10/10/11 gen 4. I like the 27 also but I want 9mm for the better ammo price. My other option at this point for my needs is a Springfield XDM 9c but I would rather have the Glock. I appreciate all your help.

My Gen4 G26 has been outstanding. I've had 2 FTF's with Federal Champion in a little over 4,000 rounds. That was near the end of that round count and the gun hadn't been cleaned.

I went to the shop, checked out and held a G19 (which I liked) and ended up ordering a gen 4 G26. He emailed the Glock rep to see how soon the next batch will be in so I am probably going to have to wait at least a couple weeks for it. I don't mind as it will be newer than 10/11 and probably manufactured in 2012. I'm excited to give it a go.

Between myself and the previous owner, my gen 3 G26 has roughly 2000 flawless rounds through it. My G33 has 1000 rounds through it with a dozen ftf's (only reloads, box ammo feeds fine). The G33 with the 27 barrel has 500 flawless rounds through it.

I saw a post here where the GT member got his Gen4 Glock two days after the born on date. That's fresh! :wow:

    G 27 gen4 or 26 gen4.
  20. I don't have any experience with the Gen 4's, but I can tell you that I have never had any issues at all with three different Gen 3 Glocks.
