... Problem: mandatory start on the 6th, so I can't give 2 weeks'.

I feel like an ass, but dammit, the opportunity is just too good to pass up.

My current boss didn't take it too well.

It's with a grand opening, so there'll be a week of store prep, which means that I'll get to TAKE OFF MY PANTS AND DO THE PANTSLESS DANCE! :dancing:

One of the ambulance companies I work for has a history of doing **** like that even to people who turn in a two week notice.

I've had that happen twice. Both times I said if I can't give two weeks notice to my current employer, I'm going to have to decline. Both times I got the job, two weeks out.

Sounds completely immature, on the part of the folks at the place you left. You decided to leave for bigger and better opportunities... No brainer and they should either counter offer or let you go.

If it were me, I'd thank you for your work (assuming you were good =P), offer you the old one back if you ever needed it, and said keep in touch (you know the whole networking thing). But then again I'm a reasonable human being most of the time.

Who the hell invented the two weeks thing anyway?

It is the contrast between pantsless and pantsful that makes pantsless worthy of note.

You, sir, being perpetually pantsless, will not gather remark or even a gawk.
